Mum and son may well have been there at the same time, but they did not actually join each other at the cinema, as Prince Gabriel was invited together with his class from the Roman Catholic St John Berchmans College in Brussels.

So while Queen Mathilde arrived in the usual royal fashion, Prince Gabriel had to wait patiently behind a glass door with his schoolmates.
Once inside, the school children found their seats, and when the Queen arrived she got many curious glances from her son's friends.
