Yes I agree that she won't likely take on royal duties. However it is not unheard of for some non-royal members of the BRF to become involved with their deceased parent's former patronages. I believe that Lady Sarah Chatto is involved with at least one of the late Princess Margaret's patronages. (I think it's the Royal Ballet.)

Louise and James will be private citizens as in RPOs, BRF patronages, no.

Let?s not call it patronages.

Like any ordinary citizen from Elizabeth Hurley to Katie Pric can support pet causes.

So , in this way of thinking, Lady Louise cannot give a Royal stamp of a patronage, no. She can with just anyone else support things dear to her interests.

Agreed. This is a good time for the royals to remotely connect with their charities/patronages as one of the public faces of  these organizations through various PSAs (public service announcements) sharing information about how, where, and when to find advice, updates on the situation in their area and if needed supplies/support.

According to Richard Palmer, lately her previous duty before this one, its been the first time that Buckingham Palace are sending invitations to the Royal Rota to follow Sophie in her visits.

Formal invitations to the RR may come with OP expenses, i.e. a transport available meeting point (BP) towards the duty, including return, and such.

Sophie Wessex and Prince Edward volunteer at Woking food charity | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-9030369/The-Earl-Countess-Wessex-join-volunteers-preparing-meals-charity-Woking.html)

QuotePrince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex donned matching aprons as they took part in a cooking class with volunteers in Guildford today.

The Earl, 56, and Countess of Wessex, 55, who put safety first by wearing face masks and gloves, helped with a meal prepping session for charity FoodWise at the Moorcroft Community Centre.

During the visit, the royals chopped carrots and assisted other volunteers in preparing meals that will be delivered to 300 local families in Woking and Guildford.

FoodWise, which usually offers budget cooking class to teach families to cook healthily on a budget, changed their approach in March and have been offering food to families in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Found this little video from Christmas 2020 when Prince Edward introduces Christmas carols from the Chapel Royal at SJP.

https://twitter.com/ClassicFM/status/1342486507974766594

This is the first time I've really noticed the resemblance between Edward to Phillip, Charles and Harry from the nose up: Eye shape, close set of the eyes and nose. One big difference is that Edward's hair loss pattern is unlike his father's, brother's and nephew's so I have to try and picture him with more hair up front.  As to Edward's lower part of his face I find that he is more similar to his maternal grandfather, mother, Andrew, Peter and William.

Edward to me appears more of a Windsor, or at least Queen Mary, in the shape of and lower part of his face. William follows the Spencer shape of the face. However, Philip has certainly gifted the close set of his eyes and top of his nose to Charles and to Edward. Probably Edward's balding pattern is more Windsor too (Edward VII) as well as being very blonde, a colour that often tends to early hair loss.

The outlier among the Queen's children/grandchildren to me is Andrew. I'm blowed if I can see anything pointing to the Windsors or the Mountbattens in Andrew's features, shape of face or anything. His body shape is different to both sides as well. The plumpness may come from the Bowes Lyons (QM) and a poster on another forum tried to say that Andrew resembled David Bowes Lyon as a young man, but I couldn't see it. I'm not inferring anything unsavoury here, btw. I think the rumours about Lord Porchester and the Queen are ridiculous. However, Andrew is IMO definitely the least like to Philip of all his descendants.

More on Prince Edward's interview with Sky News where he discusses  his children's response to home learning: Louise-  James- and the importance of non-academic extracurricular like the DoE Award Scheme. Many participants have been active in COVID relief activities ie food banks to help during the pandemic.

Prince's plea to remember vital non-academic schemes in rush to catch-up schooling | UK News | Sky News (https://news.sky.com/story/princes-plea-to-remember-vital-non-academic-schemes-in-rush-to-catch-up-schooling-12227797)

QuotePrince Edward has opened up about how his own experiences as a dad during the pandemic have highlighted the vital importance of schemes like the Duke of Edinburgh programme, set up by his father 65 years ago.

Prince Philip's youngest son told Sky News that projects such as the DofE awards for young people are "more important at this present time than ever before".

His comments come as those behind the project warned that when schools re-open, the rush for pupils to catch up academically should not come at the expense of extra-curricular activities.

The Earl of Wessex has been involved with the award scheme in the UK and overseas for 30 years.

Asked if he was concerned about the push for young people to catch up with their studies when they return to school on 8 March, he said: "We mind desperately about trying to help them catch up with their academic career, but at the end of the day we're talking about what can we give young people at this time that's really going to help them in the future - and how are they going to be ready for the world. And that's not just about academics.

QuoteOn Tuesday, Sophie was pictured volunteering with Nourish Our Nurses, which works to deliver nourishing, healthy food to Surrey's NHS staff amid the coronavirus crisis.

Great to see Sophie volunteering with the organization that works to keep the NHS staff healthy during their long workdays.

Now on to my soapbox. I really dislike how frequently when royal ladies are out performing in person engagements, the main focus of the articles is about their CLOTHING.  <_< I rarely see anything about Prince Daniel's suits or King Felipe's shoes or HGD Guillaume's necktie and of course we know that all of these men have their version of Old Faithful blue or grey suits in their closets. Why not focus on the ORGANIZATION and what they do????

Off soapbox now.

The Wessexes volunteered together at the York Road Project kitchen.

A Royal Visit to YRP | York Road Project (https://www.yorkroadproject.org.uk/articles/89-a-royal-visit-to-yrp)

QuoteYork Road Project, a charity providing support and accommodation to those experiencing homelessness in Woking, was delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex as volunteers to their temporary facility at the HG Wells Conference Centre in Woking on the 10th March.

Since the start of the pandemic YRP has continued to work to support those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Woking and surrounding areas. Moving to HG Wells Conference Centre in March 2020 the project has supported over 170 individual clients, taking in couples and those with dogs so that no one rough slept.

The charity had to redesign its service, transforming from an 11-bed shelter to providing accommodation for 32 clients, this included building 10 purpose-built pods to accommodate the numbers at the start of the pandemic. YRP also continued to support a further 20 clients in their move-on accommodation.
EARL OF WESSEX YORK ROAD PROJECT

The Earl and Countess volunteered in the kitchen preparing lunchtime snacks for the clients which included banana muffins, sausage rolls, cheese and onion twists and ginger biscuits. Their Royal Highnesses joined staff and volunteers to pack the weekly goody bags for the clients. These contain varying items (depending on current donations) but include fruit, snacks, toiletries and the necessities to make hot drinks. They then had an opportunity to speak with staff and fellow volunteers.

The Countess of Wessex speaks on bringing peace to divided nations ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/the-countess-of-wessex-speaks-on-bringing-peace-to-divided-nations-157283/)

QuoteOn Friday, the Countess of Wessex joined the 65th Commission on the Status of Women event put on by the Afghanistan Mission, the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations in New York.

The Countess talked with other foreign leaders on how international support can be provided for Afghan Women?s Rights. One main focus of the conversation was on expanding peace effort collaboration moving forward while also condemning targeted killings towards Afghan women.

?We need to ask, why are men so afraid of having women in the room?? said the Countess of Wessex.

?Women are the people who are going to enact the peace. Afghan women have shown that they are so effective in acting for peace.

?The example of Afghan women has shown us that women enact the peace.?

During the virtual event, the Countess encouraged other countries to join the UK in pledging to protect women. By pledging, people are committing to building and strengthening a legal and political safety net. They are also committing to providing security arrangements for women peacebuilders, establishing mechanisms to prevent threats against women, and facilitating emergency assistance and relocation for women peacebuilders in the case of threats.

?We have to ensure the protection of women peacebuilders who put themselves on the frontlines,? said the Countess of Wessex.

What?s notorious about Hugh Jackman? He?s the blandest of film and Broadway stars, been married to an older woman for years, two adopted children, no scandals at all. Quite dull in fact.

Notorious in a good way because of his deeds rather than infamous.

I'm a Wolverine fan :pillowfight:

Basically all Marvel, DC comics. I mean come on I'm paying Disney channel subscription just to have all the Marvel and Star Wars collection.

And now my fandom has grown, he will be representing in Australia the DoEAwards.

I read this with interest.  Years ago I worked in Saudi Arabia and one of my housemates was a lady from Sweden.  She was married to a man from Gambia who was blind due to this disease.  Unfortunately too late for him but this is wonderful news for so many others.

Earlier this week, The Countess of Wessex visited
@RAnglians to see soldiers undergoing immersive Human Security Training ahead of their deployment to Mali next month, as part of the UK?scommitment to supporting UN peacekeeping missions around the world.

The Countess watched the troops rehearse different scenarios protecting civilians, with a focus on how the military can support the empowerment, and access to equal rights, for women and girls in Mali.

The Countess heard how the training has been designed to take into account gendered perspectives, as part of the Women, Peace and Security agenda (WPS), which promotes the meaningful participation of women in building peace and stability.

HRH is committed to championing the WPS agenda and the UKs efforts to support survivors of conflict-related and gender based violence, recognising the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls in countries around the world.

I have great admiration for the efforts that these organizations do to help bring attention to the plight of victims of of rape, sexual violence and domestic abuse. The women in the BRF who are the patrons or presidents of these organizations must find it a very difficult subject to discuss when they meet the victims, but it is so important to make the public aware and where they can find help.
