Vimarsha Sital took a selfie with Spain's Queen Letizia on stage when the royal visitor stopped by at Dos Puentes Elementary School in Harlem, New York, on Monday, writes the global news source Epoch Times.

The unexpected selfie caused some stir in the room and a whole lot of laughs. The Queen, who over time has become pretty used to posing for selfies with fans, didn't reject Vimarsha, but seemed a bit surprised by the straightforward girl.

Spain's King Felipe VI and U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday here reviewed their two nations' "excellent" mutual relations in the political, economic and cultural spheres, as well as the evolution of different international conflicts at an initial meeting that confirmed the "harmony" between the two men.

The meeting at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the headquarters for the U.S. delegation participating in the U.N. General Assembly, lasted almost 30 minutes, "longer than scheduled," according to authorities, who said that it was "rather probable" that Spain's candidacy for one of the non-permanent seats on the Security Council was discussed.

In this first meeting between Obama and Felipe VI, held three months after the Spanish monarch ascended to the throne after the abdication of his father, King Juan Carlos, the two men also had occasion to speak about the Hispanic presence in the United States.

The queen of Spain wants New York City students to explore a new world.

Queen Letizia was deluged by questions from excited youngsters at Dos Puentes Elementary School in Washington Heights on Monday in her first official visit to New York as head of state.

"They asked 'Do you have any children?' 'Where do you live in Spain?' and 'What was it like to be queen?' " said Principal Victoria Hunt. "She seems very pleased to be the queen."

The last couple of days royals from Europe and the Middle East have flocked to New York City to attend the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly

On Monday, Queen Letizia and King Felipe joined their royal colleagues in New York where they divided up to deal with separate agendas. While Queen Letizia visited a school in Harlem, King Felipe attended a meeting concerning US-Spain bilateral relations (the Fulbright programme). 

Before participating in the UN General Assembly, Queen Letizia and King Felipe went to the New York Palace Hotel where they had a meeting with their good friends King Abdullah of Jordan and his wife Queen Rania. The topic of their get-together — the unfolding crisis in the Middle East.
