Yes, I don't know why this has been allowed to happen. I think it's pretty poor, actually.They could be kept to be part of a cyclical display in one or other of the royal palaces.

Good points @sandy and @Curryong. I do believe that Clara Knight would not have auctioned the items herself, but they were inherited by someone in her family who wants to cash in on their perceived value. If any museum wishes to place a bid then they'll have to hope that a private collector does not win them.

The 1922 signed photo of Elizabeth Duchess of York is lovely.
