A thread dedicated to Charles and Camilla's news that is not part of their official engagements, duties and visits[/color]
QuoteThe roses are in full bloom, the kitchen garden is an abundance of fruit and veg, but it's an award-winner inspired by something unusual which takes you into another world this month
In the heat of the summer, a visit to the carpet garden is rather like stepping into an exotic, foreign location as you are greeted by bold hot colours, heady perfumes and gently trickling rills and fountains.
It is an exquisite site, perhaps all the more so due to the sharp contrast of entering from a Cotswold orchard. This garden is inspired by an original sketch by His Royal Highness, based on a Turkish carpet. The sketch was given to Emma Clark, who is an expert on Islamic gardens and their symbolism, and she developed the final design for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with Dr Khaled Azzam, head of the Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts programme at the Prince's Foundation in Shoreditch, East London, set up in 1987.
Prince Charles explains, 'After gazing for many years at the patterns and colours of one of the small Turkish carpets in my room at Highgrove, I couldn't help feeling what fun it would be to use those patterns and colours to create a theme for a garden. The challenge would be to see if you could almost create the effect of being within the carpet.'
The garden was a triumph at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2001, drawing huge crowds and winning a coveted Silver-Gilt medal from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Quote'Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated' the New Book by Prince Charles to be Published Next Week
Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated by The Prince of Wales and Bunny Guinness will be published next week. It is a lovely book that details the lavish and exquisite gardens of Highgrove month by month.
Highgrove goes thorough monthly transformations and the book details the gardens throughout the varying seasons. The Prince of Wales and Ms Guinness discuss the impetus for each garden as well as what the highs and lows of planning for what really is the Princes 'jewel in the crown' if you will.
Included are some of Charles's watercolours along with photographs of the gardens.

Since 1980 the Prince of Wales has devoted much energy to transforming the gardens around the house at Highgrove.
Has Prince Charles done any flower work at any royal palace or castle gardens?
I have a book of pictures and text published around 1950 about George VI and the Queen Mother about their love of gardening. It showed a small allotment that had been given to Charles - he had laid out some stones and planted one or two flowers around it. Very cute. It was at Sandringham, I think.
Gardening is a wonderful hobby and can keep you active in your old age. It is always great to pass the gardening bug down to the younger generation.
Yes, it is a wonderful hobby, though a surprising number of elderly gardening enthusists suffer from arthritis! I think it's the satisfaction of creating beauty around you and your home that provides the greatest satisfaction.
The best thing about Highgrove is that it seems to prove the theory that organic gardening is best. He's written a book that could help others follow in his path. Everything is so healthy there, and he freely discusses his failures and what he has learnt along the way. I have not been yet, but intend to.

I wonder who Charles has passed along a love of gardening to. Maybe Harry? I think Catherine is the gardener in the Cambridge family.

King Charles III, Anthony Holden wrote: At Highgrove Charles will roam the grounds, checking the progress of his beloved plants - perhaps, as he has rashly admitted, talking to them.
:daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy:
At one time everyone made fun of him for talking to his plants, and they thought organic gardening was silly. Most people I know no longer think organic gardening is silly. His conversations with plants don't seem to be big news at the moment, but I have to admit, when you see a lovely plant in bloom, or a plant you babied thrive and grow, or a plant that was sick come back again, it's hard not to say, "Cheers" or "well done" to it!.

Well since the source of this donation is not mentioned there is a possibility that it comes from her own private money (inheritance from her parents, grandparents) or from joint money with her husband the PoW.
Most likely not, but Camillla Parker-Bowles was well off prior to marrying Prince Charles in 2005, so a personal donation from her own account still would be of assistance to the Australian fire relief fund.
Good for her.
All donations are welcome

If this is the case, how come she had to get help to buy Ray Mill? And this is a fact.

Aww this is lovely to see. Camilla chose to make a personal donation to help those affected by the bush fires and I'm glad that the recipients have new school bags.
It's well known that she doesn't like flying or the heat, but in all the pictures it is obvious she enjoyed her times down under. It looks like she was enjoying her interactions with the people. She has set a good example by helping them out, and we all wish them well.
Prince Charles will read from the Gospel for Easter Sunday.

I listened - it's one of my favorite passages and he read it so well and with feeling. It was something else to look forward to while we are isolated and couldn't visit with family as we usually do.
This is another very old thread, rumour is there has already been an agreement about Highgrove between William and Charles to keep using it as their per usual secondary home, apart from the fixed dates C goes to Birkhall, and he supposedly touring and will be doing changes to improve the Duchy of Lancaster.
I like the colors of the Carpet Garden in Highgrove Garden.

Charles and Camilla receive the coronavirus vaccination ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/charles-and-camilla-receive-the-coronavirus-vaccination-155648/)
QuoteThe Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have both received a coronavirus vaccination.
Clarence House confirmed that the Prince, 72, and the Duchess, 73, have been given the first dose of the vaccine. No further information was given.
They are in the fourth priority group for the jab in the UK as they are both over the age of 70. Other royals in that age group include The Princess Royal who marked her 70th birthday in August 2020.
The Queen, 94, and the Duke of Edinburgh, 99, received their injections last month. They announced they had been given the jabs to stop any further speculation.
The Prince of Wales contracted coronavirus in March 2020, in the early part of the pandemic, although he later said he felt he had ??got away with it quite lightly?? after experiencing a mild form of the virus. The Duchess of Cornwall didn?t contract the virus.
Royal families across Europe have shown their support for the vaccination programme by confirming when members have been given the jab.
Hope that the Queen's Kent and Gloucester cousins have also been able to receive the vaccine too.

Really nice property.
A beautiful place for Charles to have some solitude and spend some time with his memories.
At his time of life most folks are enjoying a more relaxed pace, but his life is ramping up and there is so much stress. It is good that he knows when he needs to get away and re-charge. I can't imagine what his frame of mind must be like after the things that were said in the Winfrey interview, his sons' feud, Megxit, trouble with Andrew. and his father's illness and death. And he must be so worried for his mother. He needs this quietude and I hope there are some good times ahead.

Great initiative!
THE PRINCE?S FOUNDATION HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS TO CREATE A NEW TRAINING AND EDUCATION BASE AT THE PRINCE OF WALES?S HIGHGROVE ESTATE IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE.
Building on the success of the Foundation?s work at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire and Trinity Buoy Wharf and Charlotte Road in London, the new base will extend access to the Foundation?s courses into the South West of England. The new facilities will be based within The Prince of Wales?s Highgrove Estate and opportunities will include:
Fine Woodworking ? A bespoke training course including marquetry and cabinet making curated by Lord Snowdon, Vice President of The Prince?s Foundation.
Textiles ? Building on the success of the Future Textiles Programme at Dumfries House which created the Modern Artisan Project in partnership with Yoox Net-A-Porter, the programme will teach production skills whilst also incorporating design influences from the Highgrove Gardens.
Craft Residencies ? The new location will provide workspaces for up and coming artisans in the early stages of their career. They will be offered the chance to work and collaborate in the studios drawing inspiration from the surroundings of The Highgrove Estate.
Building Crafts Programme ? Live builds of structures that allow apprentices the opportunity to put their newly acquired skills into practice.
In addition, The Prince?s Foundation also plans to take responsibility for the opening of the Highgrove Gardens to the public, which generates an annual income for charity. Following over a decade of experience running a visitor attraction at Dumfries House, The Prince?s Foundation will take over the stewardship of the Gardens in order to ensure they continue to be appreciated by the visiting public and to support the Foundation?s charitable endeavours.

Sounds like something I would love to do!
He is always innovative! I have been wondering about the future of Highgrove, as it so very much HIM and will be redundant someday (but hopefully not for several years yet).
A fantastic opportunity to keep the traditional crafts alive and for young people to discover some hidden talents.
I was blown away with the depth of the programs offered at Dumfries and now this program. Charles certain has developed a program that promotes his vision for the arts and conservation. I?m impressed
We fill over 15,000 places on education programmes every year. We deliver over 30 distinct programmes across a broad variety of thematic areas. Our participants are aged anywhere between 4 and 74 and we deliver a high proportion of employment and further education take-up from a large number of our programmes.
Our Academic Programmes, delivered in partnership with other leading institutions, are often at the forefront of curriculum design. Our Further Education Programmes develop the next generation of practitioners, with a particular focus on hands-on education that teaches practical skills. Our Schools Programme specifically targets gaps in the curriculum or helps support formal education systems. Our Short Courses generate interest in careers and upskill existing practitioners.
The Prince?s Foundation School of Traditional Arts exists to ensure that traditional arts and skills enrich our changing world. Our pioneering postgraduate programmes (MA, MPhil and PhD) are based in the creative, artistic practice of the traditional arts. Our short courses, taster sessions and lectures are open to all. We have reached more than twenty countries. Our Harmony programme, designed for primary schools, gives young people a more holistic view of the world.
We believe that harmonious communities learn, as well as live, together.

Might Prince Charles make a private visit to see Archie and Lilibet?
Perhaps, if things go fine between family members when Harry comes back for the unveiling of his mother?s statue there might be arrangements made for another visit with Meghan and the children. There were reports that Harry will have lunch with his grandmother at Windsor and it could be spoken of then.
Having said that, I can?t see busy Charles going on private visits to California any time soon. Apart from any family tensions nobody is going anywhere much at the moment due to this pandemic except out of sheer necessity.
People in various countries have thought ?This is over, or at least getting better? over the last six months, only to be faced with a second wave. Unfortunately I don?t think there will be mass travel between countries again until 2022, when the citizens of countries in the First World will hopefully be mostly vaccinated.

Good Lord, a positive Covid test following a full case plus vaccinations! I hope it will be a very mild case.
I'm sorry that Charles has tested positive again for COVID though I hope that since he's completely vaccinated that his symptoms will be mild ones.
He should set up a Zoom chat with QMI in Denmark and King Felipe in Spain. Might as well use the isolation time productively. :high5: Margrethe can teach them how to decoupage. Charles can give them a short tutorial in watercolors. Felipe can offer Charles and Margrethe the chance to brush up on their Spanish. :D

This is a concern in my opinion; most who are vaccinated and boostered do well and have a very brief illness from the Omicron Variant, but you can still get very sick from it. I pray she is not one of them.
I am a little more concerned about Camilla as she's been the one who has had issues with pulmonary illness in the past. Hoping that this will just be like a cold for her with no lingering effects.

The PM, in spite of being in isolation (Covid) has been keeping a close eye on the situation in Queensland and NSW. Both States will need disaster relief moneys. People will be grateful for what GIVIT can do. At the moment cleanup operations have been going on and getting food to more remote suburbs and towns is paramount. The supermarkets there are virtually empty.

Camilla presents the Grand National trophy to winning jockey Sam Waley-Cohen in fairytale success ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/camilla-presents-the-grand-national-trophy-to-winning-jockey-sam-waley-cohen-in-fairytale-success-175087/)
Quotehe Duchess of Cornwall has presented the trophy to the winning connections of the 2022 Grand National ? Noble Yeats.
Camilla, a big horse racing enthusiast, congratulated jockey Sam Waley-Cohen and his father, Robert, who owns the horse.
The Grand National often produces a fairytale result, with 2022 being no different.
Just two days before he rode Noble Yeats to success, Sam announced that this would be his final ever ride as a jockey, bringing an end to his 23 years in the saddle.
His father revealed just after the famous victory that Sam had been dreaming of winning the National since he was a child.
Sam Waley-Cohen, just a week away from this 40th birthday, ensured his final ride was his biggest success of all, producing his seven-year-old gelding at just the right moment, winning the race.
The race had been tight as the remaining horses approached the final fence and in the end, it was a close run between Noble Yeats and the favourite, Any Second Now. A huge cheer erupted at Aintree as Waley-Cohen became the first amateur jockey to claim a National win for over thirty years.
Trained by Emmet Mullins, Noble Yeats is the first seven-year-old to win the race in over 80 years.

The scenes today at Buckingham Palace when HMKCIII and QCC arrived is encouraging and heart warming to see in multiple professional and amateur videos with the huge crowds; from hip hip hooray, to God Save The King, to We Love You Charles, to singing the New National Anthem. Including scenes of QCC shaking hands and receiving flowers, despite the recent events she carried on red eyes red face, but slightly smiled shakingly.
I've got to admit when watching them all trickling in my youtube account (algorithms that show up, anything BRF related) I got 'awe goosebumps'.

100 employees of Clarence House have received a notice that they may lose their jobs.
As I said a few days ago, I think everyone knows the merging of two households, they'd be facing double or even triple people ''doing the same job description''.
I only hope in the days to come, the PPOW's can rescue some of them to the PPOW's household, their own job has changed, they will need more help.
As a personal note, I've lived through several mergers, acquisitions and Resumes/CV's, year to date progress report of each individual IS compared and contrasted, THE BEST WILL take the position, the other one, HR will try to find them another job internal or external for a fixed period of time.
The above article doesn't surprise me, to carry out a merger it takes MINIMUM 1 year of pre planning. SO, Charles found the Queen's BP staff more in and his own staff 100 on the risk of out.

I know the QC loves horses, but I didn't know she was into horse breeding, especially racing horses. I would have thought this would have gone to the Princess Royal. In fact, the QC is now going to have very little time for herself and her own interests, but if this is true she will endeavor to do a great job.

She seems very sad and upset - was she that close to the Queen? She almost seems overwhelmed by the sudden transition to a whole new life, even though she knew it was coming. I worry for her - she has received abuse and is such a genuine and kind person.
I thought the same and many times it looked like Camilla was ready to collapse at any second. I think their schedule is so overwhelming and full and the shock of HM dying has not really sat in yet I wonder. Maybe they are just going through the motions required of them as that is their strength to keep going. None of them from Charles down to William in the royal family are spring chickens anymore and if you don't take care of your body then odds are against you.
I am happy they are both resting until Friday morning.
I think that both Charles and Camilla have been at least partly dreading this moment for many years. Like most of us probably C+C believed for a long time that Queen Elizabeth seemed immortal, like Energiser Bunny just going on and on. Then Prince Philip died, and it had its effect on all the family but more so on his widow.
It?s only in the last few months that slowly but inexorably the truth was becoming obvious. And now the day has arrived. Both the new King and Queen are facing different circumstances, a new way of life, at an age when most people are enjoying their retirement years after a long working life. And, for Camilla at least, it now means a future with diaries full of both her own engagements and supporting and accompanying her husband on others. For Charles it means even more duties on an already heavy schedule.
Ad well as the grief of losing a close and well-loved member of one?s family that is a lot to take in in less than a week.

I suspect you have hit the nail on the head.....the overwhelming tasks coming in their very older years. She has just turned 75! I hope things will settle down and they will get into a routine of both working and relaxing. As I said, I do worry about her. I think the King has more stamina, both physically and mentally, but he, too is in his mid seventies! All the pictures of her today were worrying to me.
A New Zealand butcher has referenced Charles?s swollen fingers in a gesture commemorating his accession. There has been talk all over the internet this week about the new King?s red and swollen fingers and so the butcher has begun selling ?King Charles sausages.?

Actually I think he has had fat fingers since birth. His mother spoke about it in a letter to a friend when he was a baby. There was speculation for years that it was a side effect of his rosaria. Nowadays I think it?s more likely to be a bit of water retention in his old age.

Er, most of the younger part of the population of the UK have grandfathers of their own to look up to, and I?m sure the Scots and Welsh will really appreciate being lumped in under a one Nation banner!
I understand that his aides have begun a PR campaign on the groundswell of sentiment after the late Queen?s death, but Charles has only been King for a few days. A bit early, one would have thought, to be adopting that sort of a title. How about waiting five or ten years to see how this reign turns out first, hmm?
That moniker doesn't seem fitting to me. But he is very burdened and has a lot on his shoulder with the Andrew, Meghan and Harry issues. Perhaps he might be comforted with the name.
News of Angela Kelly, the late Queen?s dresser. Apparently locks were changed on her according to Richard Kay, who claims that though the Queen was fond of Ms Kelly, that fondness doesn?t extend to Charles.

RICHARD KAY: What now for the Queen's dresser after she was frozen out by Charles in days? | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11244505/RICHARD-KAY-Queens-dresser-frozen-Charles-days.html)
For a woman who prided herself on ensuring the Queen always looked her regal best, Angela Kelly was curiously disorganised in her own life.
A visitor to her grace-and-favour house in Windsor Great Park was taken aback when she offered to make a cup of tea. ?She put a tea bag in a mug of cold water and put it in the microwave,? the guest recalled yesterday. ?I bet that never happened to the Queen.?
There were domestic dramas at home, too. On one occasion Miss Kelly rang a royal aide to complain about an infestation of rats.
A flunkey was despatched to investigate and found that the rodents were nesting in plastic bin liners full of clothes ? among them royal garments ? which were dumped all over the house.
And on Angela Kelly writing a third book, apparently about the Queen?s dogs.
Royal staff are puzzled, however, that Miss Kelly has chosen this topic. ?Angela never showed any interest in the corgis,? says a staff figure. ?I can?t remember ever seeing her bending down to pet the dogs or walking them.?
It is understood that the Queen agreed to the book deal as a gesture of thanks to her servant?s loyalty, and also to help provide some financial assurance for Miss Kelly?s future. But the late monarch?s most generous action was to approve a long-term deal allowing her right-hand woman to stay on in her home, which is close to the Windsor Castle golf course.
It is understood that she will be allowed to remain at the house for life. Usually such arrangements come with strict conditions, such as preventing beneficiaries from giving interviews or cashing in on their insider information.
In the past, Miss Kelly has talked of wanting to spend time in America, where she would certainly be in demand on the TV chat show network.

As usual I am amazed at the amount of knowledge RI members have!!! I wondered about Angela Kelley - since she was the Queen's personal dresser she would no longer be needed, unless another member of the RF was in need of a dresser. But shame on Mr. Kay for saying she was frozen out. Of course she would be told early on where she stood - it's only fair to her.
Agree, 30 years of service and a grace and favor Windsor Park home for life! Authorized by the Queen in letter signed for AK to write books that are basically for a specific market clothes, jewellery in hardcover to be on a coffeetable or the home office library. SO FAR 2 out of 3 books that the woman asked her boss permission, which letter of agreement has bullet points of the topics she can write about and make extra money. The BRF employees salaries are not wow, indeed, glassdoor top notch, it's the cache for working for the Monarchy at best.
People who are made redundant, especially in top positions are taken ''firm'' belongings asap.
Richard has a salty tone in this article. I'm glad the comment section is in favour of AK, 30 years is practically your entire career life shelf. Matter of fact she's past retirement age.

In the meantime Page 6 reports on Christopher Anderson?s new biography on Charles III.
?? The teddy bear: King Charles was attached to his childhood teddy bear well into adulthood, according to a new book. The now-king?s former trusted valet, Michael Fawcett, was in charge of caring for the stuffed animal ? when Charles was in his forties. Anytime the toy needed mending, the royal?s former nanny Mabel Anderson was brought out of retirement to make the necessary repairs. According to a former valet, the retired nanny ?was the only human being allowed to take needle and thread to Prince Charles? teddy bear. He was well into his forties, and every time that teddy needed to be repaired, you would think it was his own child having major surgery,? Andersen writes.
More on Michael Fawcett?s duties: Valet Fawcett was also in charge of squeezing toothpaste onto the then-Prince of Wales? monogrammed toothbrush, shaving his face, helping him put on trousers and lacing up his shoes. He laid out the royal?s pajamas and turned down his bed nightly.
The Highgrove gardeners: The gardening staff at Charles? Highgrove estate were expected to live up to his exacting standards as well. The head gardener, Andersen writes, woke up every day to a list of ?instructions and complaints written by his boss in red ink.? The then-prince would stand on his porch and, if not happy with the job being done by landscapers, allegedly bark orders at them through a green megaphone.
Charles the bully: ?For someone who said he was bullied as a child, Prince Charles clearly enjoyed bullying us,? a Highgrove staffer told Andersen. ?He could be pleasant and courteous, but just as much of the time, he was moody and mean. He didn?t think twice about shouting insults at you if you put a foot wrong.? Another former valet, Ken Stronach ? who was, for many years, in charge of hand-washing the prince?s underwear and tucking him into bed with his beloved teddy ? concurred. Stronach claims in the book to have seen Charles, in the midst of an argument with his then-wife, Princess Diana, grab a heavy wooden bootjack and throw it at her, narrowly missing her head.
The time Charles pulled a sink out of the wall: Another time, Charles, who was staying at a posh friend?s villa in the South of France, allegedly grew enraged when he accidentally lost one of his cufflinks down a bathroom sink. ?Flying into a blind rage, he pulled the sink off the wall, then smashed it, looking for the cufflink,? Andersen writes. ?Unable to find the missing jewelry, a wild-eyed Prince of Wales spun around and grabbed his valet by the throat. Stronach broke free, darted out a side door ? and into a linen closet. Terrified, he huddled there for thirty minutes before he could hear Charles leave the bathroom.?
I've seen some of the critics of Christopher Andesen, as a American with ''american'' themed best sellers like JFK and anything american of his 36 books excluding the British Royal family.
Basically, the critics are stating that Chris lives in Long beach, California, has never had access to royalty or aristos in reference to his claims.

HM is doing well at carrying on despite all the Sussex drama, but I feel so sorry about the terrible position he is in because of it. What a way to begin his reign.
Yes, Charles must be under extreme pressure and stress with what is going on in regards to Harry and Meghan. Stress is a killer and I hope he is taking great care of himself and getting help to deal with all this. I understand his love for his son yet Harry is an adult and makes his own decisions on his life, as a parent I had to do the same at one time and yes it is hard but for the sake of your sanity and peace of mind it has to be done period as I learned the hard way. A parent can only do so much for their child once they become an adult, Charles will need to make some hard decisions if things get worse then they are for he is head of the monarchy and that must be protected at all cost, even if that cost is his son. My heart goes out to him and Camilla and William and Catherine as all they can do is sit back and be quiet and pray.
All they can do is sit back, be quiet and pray? No, that?s not what senior royals do in reaction to something they dislike that?s happening. Instead they evoke the old deal between the Press and the Palaces, a word in a well placed Royal Reporter?s ear, an aide phoning planting a story to an editor or RR about various royals at BP or KP being ?greatly upset?, ?very disturbed?, ?shocked? etc etc. The deal they have with Fleet St and tabloids and broadsheets alike, works much better for them than prayer.
And Meghan was never stressed out or made ill by what she had to endure from the tabloids every day for years. No, she just had to keep quiet and endure it during her engagement, early marriage, first baby etc.
I was commenting on Charles not Meghan......and yes prayer is helpful as it can calm a person down.

It isn?t a formal document as such with signatures but it?s been known for about forty years (when things became much less deferential) that that was how certain editors of tabloids and others get their scoops on what?s going on in the various royal Households. There are always tittle tales among senior courtiers, and every household is jealous of the others and plant stories. They are the aides, the conduit to anything the royals want to smother, suppress or deny. Low?s latest book Courtiers talks about the goings on.
That?s how Valentine Low of the Times and Wootton of the Sun got their scoops about Meghan/the Sussexes when they were at KP. When they moved overseas without staff it became virtual radio silence.
From the Financial Times, the story
?The ?invisible? pact binding the UK royals and their tabloid tormentors?.
The New York Times
For generations, Britain?s news outlets have been locked in a power struggle with a family that values its privacy, with the media sometimes ratcheting up negative coverage in response to curtailed access. In private, editors boasted of their ability to damage the approval rating of royals who do not cooperate, as with a drumbeat of reports critical of Prince William?s work habits, branding him ?Work-Shy Wills.?
Stig Abell, who served as the director of Britain?s Press Complaints Commission, a regulatory body, has described the relationship as ?a hug that was always threatening to become an assault.?

Charles 'sold out' Harry out to the tabloids, doc revealed (https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/03/09/charles-history-of-selling-harry-and-william-out-to-the-tabloids-was-revealed-in-2015-documentary/)
While Prince Harry and Megan Markle unleashed a series of stunning revelations about the ?toxic environment? in the royal family, many were still surprised that they talked so openly about the ?invisible contract? that family members have with the British tabloids in order to guarantee positive coverage.
But this invisible contract has been an open secret for years, and a controversial 2015 BBC documentary detailed how Prince Charles had leaked denigrating stories about Princess Diana and used the private struggles of his sons, William and Harry, to improve his reputation.
But to do that, Charles allegedly allowed a ruthless press operation, run by ?his Machiavellian? spin doctor Mark Bolland, to plant personal stories about his teen-aged sons, the Guardian added. One of the notable stories, headlined ?Harry?s Drugs Shame,? claimed that Harry was abusing drugs, but that Charles intervened to lovingly but firmly straighten him out.
Both William and Harry were stunned and upset when they found out about the press leaks, according to documentary host Steve Hewlett.

Both William and Harry were stunned and upset when they found out about the press leaks, according to documentary host Steve Hewlett.
The first time a personal story was published about one of the princes was in 1998, the year after Diana died, the documentary showed. A 16-year-old William had agreed to meet Camilla Parker Bowles for the first time. Charles had famously cheated on Diana with Parker Bowles, so the meeting was bound to be emotionally charged. Yet every moment of that meeting was described in detail in The Sun newspaper.
?(William) was justifiably and understandably really upset, because it was really private,? Henney said in the documentary. She said she had been put in charge of warning William about the story.
Charles doesn't need to worry about the pair. He may be sad that they are deeper down the rabbit hole.
The only worry is being in the vicinity of a suicidal person (factual stats), knowing it, not doing nothing about it. The stats indicate When a suicide happens, usually the family and closest are checked marked/cleared through 2 uniforms; white and the blue ones. I know a close and dear friend of mine married a depression disorder man who flung himself by cutting of the safety net of the balcony. Health officials cleared with the Police officials no wrong doing from my friend who did her best trying to cope and keep him alive daily. She was asked to keep a daily diary stating date/time of giving medication and video film as much as possible since diagnosis and let's say day 1. (My friend has been about 1 year to date since the death, she's doing just a bit better, he was the love of her life, so it's a long way to go mental health wise)
No one knows what worry is until you are made sort of responsible of a suicidal person. Ask a Doctor, the first responsibility is not only nurse duty without being a certified nurse but daily diary notes and filming pill taking. For your own safety from being accused of being of no help, etc. I mean if normal people in ''society'' has in official 'form's ''Who is the contact person in case of emergency''? If you don't have money and don't have any forms, it will be deferred to the 1. married counterpart 2. partner 3 the roommate and on is the list of 'closest'.
It sounds cold but that is basically society and function in every country (legally)
That is indeed sobering...I'm thinking of young roommates who are not even aware of clinical depression and what it can mean. So then they would be held responsible in some way, and I can think of other scenarios as well. Maybe it's time that suicide prevention information is spread by more than just ads, brochures, doctors, etc. A very stressful world we live in, for sure. Let us hope neither Harry nor Meghan nor any other member of the strained royal family are victims of it.
It's time for Royal Central's annual "Royal Year in Review" articles. This one is dedicated to the Queen Consort aka Queen Camilla.
YEAR IN REVIEW: A new queen for the UK ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/wales/year-in-review-a-new-queen-for-the-uk-184785/)
QuoteQueen Camilla?s four months as queen consort have gone smoothly, which must be a relief for her?and King Charles?as there was always speculation (and confirmation) that she would never go by the title or be accepted as Queen Camilla.
But leave it to Queen Camilla to prove everybody wrong. In her first four months as consort, she has continued to spotlight the charities and causes she so brilliantly championed as Duchess of Cornwall and took to her elevated role as the King?s biggest supporter.
Perhaps the biggest story (or non-story) was over what to call her: Queen Camilla or Queen Consort Camilla? Most stuck with the latter, taking a truly literal interpretation of Queen Elizabeth II?s earlier message about wanting her to be known as the queen consort with time, but Queen Camilla is a correct form, too. Just ask the historians who know all about Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother), Queen Mary, and Queen Alexandra?all consorts, all referred to as simply queen.
Perhaps in a short time people will tire of adding the word "Consort" when referring to her and simply refer to her as Queen Camilla. And in a few years that might be shortened to "The Queen".
In my opinion she is doing very well in her new role.

QuoteHis Majesty was spotted smiling and appearing to share a joke with a well-wisher after a tumultuous few days which have tested the Royal family.
Wearing a brown overcoat, the King looked relaxed as he was escorted to the service at his Royal estate in Norfolk.
I'm glad he is still at Sandringham as it reminds me of the post holiday stay of QEII there. I thought he and the Queen Consort were going up to Scotland, but I guess they changed their minds.
Just read a couple of articles on this and I think it?s a fabulous idea. Local councils all over Britain are opening properties such as parish halls etc to allow people, especially the elderly who are worried about heating their homes, to join in crafts and activities in a warm place with free cups of tea and coffee and some food per gratis.
Now Charles is doing the same at Highgrove, Dumfries House and Castle of Mey. I think Mey is quite remote and would be difficult for many who aren?t extremely local to get to, but Highgrove?s Orchard Room (restaurant open in the warmer months for tourists and visitors) is opening now for people overwhelmed with heating and other bills. They are served tea and some warm food and have a chat with new people.

Good. I hope all the other protesters who smeared food and other substances over paintings etc during that period got penalised as well. All it did was got others annoyed, interrupted proceedings at galleries and businesses and did their cause no good whatsoever.

This is excellent news. Glad to see this is being done to help those who need a warm space.
Just WOW for everyone that is doing that, what a great idea! Lots of seniors have a tendency to isolate themselves during hard times and winter, this is so welcoming for those that do that, a quiet place with hot tea and a cookie maybe is heaven sent for so many.

With the heavy burden he carries he must feel very "close to" the only two people who truly understand what his position and role is like.

I've thought about this a lot. I know that the King wants to slim down the list of working royals and understand why, but there are so many patronages to cover, and the number of patrons has decreased by three (four if you count Prince Phillip). How can they realistically be spread over the remaining working royals?
THey will drop most of hte charities, not immediately but over time as the older royals who work retire.
Some of these organizations get 1 visit a year. Some, IMO need to merge to survive the economy.

QuoteA note on "reputable sources"
We consider "reputable sources" to be actual publications (whether print + web, or just web). Websites that are strictly blogs are not considered "reputable sources". Publications that have blog areas are considered reputable sources. This is all "for the purposes of this forum" of course, and doesn't extend anywhere else on the web.
For example, The Sun is a print+web publication. Since they are a tabloid, some people do not consider them reputable because they generally don't bother to fact-check, however for the purposes described above, we would consider a link to a Sun article as support for a statement a "reputable source"
Now, take Monsters and Critics as another example - they are a web only publication, however they are still considered a reputable source, even though they don't offer their stories in print. If you view their "about" page, you'll see the owner's information, addresses, contact information, they have an official staff of writers, and run themselves as a business.
On the other hand, look at lilibetsroyalblog, the "official blog of QEII" - this is not a reputable source. I probably don't need to explain why!
I think that where most people get confused, is in the issue of the tabloids. Sure, they may post drivel and fail to fact-check their stories, but they are publications run as businesses to provide a service to the public at large. That's all we are looking for in terms of 'reputable sources'; citing Joe Shmoe's Twitter post as back-up for an allegation likely won't protect us in a court of law.

Quoterowing up on a council estate in West London, the world of royalty was one I didn?t pay much mind to. What would that have to do with young Black boys in Ladbroke Grove? Much more than I realized, it turned out. As the quiet and fastidious work of the Prince?s Trust, a charity set up by the then Prince of Wales, began to put our friends and family into steady employment, its outreach programs inspired many of us and instilled confidence. I didn?t realize then just how close our now King was to all of this.He didn?t have to do any of it. He could?ve let his privilege shield him from the realities of our hardship in a time when these were not a cause c?l?bre. But he always met us with an open mind and a listening ear.
Over the past decade, I?ve had the privilege of getting to know King Charles III better?and in 2021, I became a global ambassador of the Prince?s Trust.
As a man, the King is not always who people expect him to be. He is charming, funny, socially confident, with a kindness that always seeks to put others at ease. His love for the environment is well documented, but his love for his subjects burns even brighter. The monarchy is not perfect, but in Charles we have a King who understands both tradition and what it takes to evolve with the times. It is a delicate balance and a rare ability. I am excited to see him carry his passions with him into a whole new era.

Philip had a gay affair while he was still married and lied about it to his wife and colleagues. Yes it was inappropriate. Charles had an affair with another woman while he was still married, and lied to his wife and made his servants and staff back him up in his deception. Inappropriate in his role as Prince of Wales?.??

Yes before Charles become King he admit affair with Camilla NOW his wife but Queen Mother said no mistress during marriage but Charles did learned lesson but Charles told interview in 1994 when Diana was in gallery but he and Diana got separated for four years no divorced plans till late Queen Elizabeth order Charles and Diana to divorce in taboild but Diana no longer HRH but she remain know as Diana,Princess of Wales but Diana?s infamous 1995 interview said ?three in marriage? because of Camilla
There are elements to the affair that are, if not criminal, then at the very least inappropriate from the perspective of an adult. While Charles had an affair, I do believe Camilla was always of age during their acquaintance. Furthermore, he was told of his brother?s inappropriate contact with minors and failed to report it. He wasn?t simply fired from This Morning because he cheated on his wife. The two things aren?t even remotely related or in any way comparable. And from a historical standpoint and for a sense of perspective, if having an affair disqualified a man from being Prince of Wales?well, England wouldn?t have had very many Princes of Wales.

Phillip Schofield?s brother told TV host of sexual acts with child, court hears | UK news | The Guardian (https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/mar/29/phillip-schofield-brother-told-tv-host-of-sexual-acts-with-child-court-hears)
In Schofield?s statement he made it clear that the physical affair with this young man only began after he came of age, that is, 18+. Rather icky, considering Schofield?s then age, but hardly a hanging offence. And Philip told his brother to go to the police. The brother was charged with offences against a minor. Horrible, but certainly not Schofield?s fault. And Philip told people following the revelations that he no longer had a brother.
As for previous Princes of Wales, if all of them, lemming-like, jumped off a cliff, would that compel Charles to do the same? Why not model his marital conduct on that of George V (?I am not interested in any other wife but my own?) or his own grandfather who was faithful to the QM throughout his marriage, instead of saying to Diana, as he reputedly did, ?Do you expect me to be the only Prince of Wales who has never had a mistress??
That kind of wonky moral compass stinks in my view. I?m not a deeply religious person but adultery is just one step too far iMO. And let?s not forget, Camilla was also married. Their affair affected four offspring.

I?m not going to rehash the Charles and Diana saga because heaven knows, it?s been done to death; suffice it to say, there were numerous problems caused by both sides and I?ll choose not to get on my high horse about it considering I?m a firm believer that only the two people that are in a marriage can truly know what?s going on behind closed doors.
That?s another reason that I won?t presume that Philip?s eye never wandered and the second reason is that it truly is none of my business. Being Prince of Wales encompasses many roles, all of them public, and plenty of them have been successful without having been faithful to their wives. The difference with Charles is that it became public in the most unsavory way, as we lived in a different media age. The crux of this isn?t whether cheating on your wife is wrong, but a reply to your statement that somehow his cheating meant that he shouldn?t be Prince of Wales because of it. There?s ample proof historically that fidelity to your wife and being a successful PoW have very little to do with each other.
And yes, I?m so sure that Schofield completely had zero attraction to him and only gave the teenager an opportunity to work for This Morning out of the goodness of his own heart. I?m sure that?s also why he lied about it to his coworkers. Now, if you choose to believe him, I take no qualms about that, it?s simply a choice. However, to insinuate that his infidelity is the reason for his firing isn?t a matter of fact. When he came out, he was lauded on all fronts. I know, because I remember watching it. If cheating was the reason he?d been fired, it would have happened then. It didn?t and instead he was heralded as a brave man who came out this late in life out of courage.
This scandal didn?t begin until after the trial of his brother started and it came out that his brother said he told him about what he had been doing. Telling your brother to seek help isn?t the same as reporting it to the police, which is what he should have done. He lied about who he had the affair with to his coworkers and I?m unsure why his brother would lie about telling Philip when he was copping to the other vile things he did, so he was well aware of what was happening. His coworkers were upset that he lied about who he had the affair with and also regarding the upcoming trial, as many were blindsided. It caused a toxic atmosphere for everyone else on set and the scandal became bigger than the show. That?s why this happened. The fact that he cheated on his wife isn?t even being discussed because of the seriousness behind the other things he?s purportedly done.
And I add that another difference is that being an ambassador for the Prince?s Trust is not a right or something anyone is entitled to. Rightly or wrongly, Charles is quite literally entitled to be Prince of Wales based on the line of succession.
oh for goodness sakes, its quite obvious now tht anyone who has been involved in any kind of sexual scandal is going to be considered persona non grata by the press and some of hte public. Charles problaby has no feelings one way or the ohter but Scofield has to be damned eternally because of his sex life.

Philip?s brother is responsible for his own actions. He engaged in sexual activity with a minor. That is quite different to what Philip Schofield was doing.
Why does Schofield have to ?be damned eternally because of his sex life?? This young man was an adult, 18 plus, when the physical affair began. Yes, having such an affair was certainly not very edifying due to the large gap in age and Philip being in a position of authority. However, and this is the point, it was not unlawful, and nobody at ITV who knew/know them both is saying it is.
I never mentioned in my post, nor do I believe, that Schofield got the sack because he cheated on his wife. He was told to resign in large part because his co-host Holly was annoyed that he lied to her about this young man, (and he WAS a young man, not a child or a very young teenager. Schofield wasn?t particularly well-liked by colleagues and so he had to go. He didn?t have to resign because he was doing something illegal with the young man.
And as for Charles, is it too much to expect that a man who is (and was going to be) ceremonial Head of the Anglican Church found it impossible to keep his hands off another man?s wife? I do expect someone in an elevated position in life to behave himself in a different sort of way to others who do not have his privileges.
I am perfectly entitled to expect a person with the privileges Charles has had in life to respect his marriage vows, especially considering his position in the Church of England.
I don?t care how many Princes of Wales have done the same. Some haven?t and those are the ones I respect. And before someone mentions Henry VIII, and the founding of the C of E because of adultery, that was in the 16th century and supposedly we have all moved on from then. .

You are as entitled to expect whatever you?d like. As he was entitled to be the Prince of Wales and now he is entitled to be King, whether you believe he should be or not. That doesn?t change the fact that comparing his adultery with the situation surrounding Phillip Schofield is off the mark. ITV bosses will soon be questioned about their handling of the situation and it?s not because Schofield was unfaithful to his wife. And it?s not coincidental the the Princes Trust has dropped him at this same time. A lot of people are unfaithful, in TV, government, and regular walks of life, I hear rumors that some of them are even members of the Church of England; they?re not being fired for that either, though.
And you?re right, it isn?t the time of Henry VIII anymore. Neither is it the time of Nathaniel Hawthorne, but I guess in some quarters throwing stones remains a constant.
You?re also fully entitled to believe that Schofield didn?t have a responsibility to report his brother?s crimes to the police. Others clearly disagree, and TV is a game of numbers. I would also say that ?being damned eternally? appears to me to be a questionable way of describing Schofield?s situation. He?s no longer the host of This Morning (but will be given another opportunity to present on ITV) and is no longer an ambassador to the Princes Trust. If that?s being damned eternally, I?ll take some of that, please! Although I think I?ll skip intimations of grooming minors.

I believe that speculating of this sort about the sexual nature of a person in the public eye with no evidence to back it up isn?t allowed here. It?s akin to repeating gossip on Twitter that has no place on a royal forum.
^ Curryong, I am not speculating, 15 years old rather than 12, is still a MINOR, hence a barrister has been hired to investigate all the details.

unlikely Charles would want to go anywhere with Harry for a week at thsi stage in their relationship
^ Surely the entire BRF, especially his father and brother know Harry is mentally ill. All the Camilla trashing via 'staffers' (his detail bashing of how and whom) went down the drain yesterday under oath, stating no one working, staffers at the palaces do not leak to the press, they do the opposite, they protect you.
KCIII knows his son needs help.
what has that to do with anything.
IF Charles didn't fully realize his son is mentally ill, yesterday in a court of law, under oath, he must have fully realized his son needs help.
A father is a father is a father.
that may be but he cannot help Harry unless he wants to be helped. And given Harry's behavour, he may feel it is far too stressful to engage in arguments with him.
It is a very delicate situation, considering his son purportedly recreated his mother's death twice; Paris and the latest NYC.
Its up to them to sort it out.
Very stressful. One of my best friends lived through a similar Harry issue (husband), it ended very badly.
I'm almost secretly wishing H get's deported from USA today (the court of law in the USA gave Biden's gov 5 days to deliver H's Visa paperwork to the Heritage Group). I say this because I am sensing he is spiraling down faster and faster.
yes he's a mess, but why not just leave him to be a mess.
I think family relations would be worried, unlike the public in general.

Amd if your adult son doesn't want the help, just what are you supposed to do? Harry is according to his age am adult, mot under the thumb of his dad. Yes, Harry is very mentally ill as we are all seeing. Yet it is his life, his choice, his decisions and he lives halfway across the world from his dad, Charles hands are tied and all he can is sit back and watch and pray for his son......very sad for sure!

Yes, I also lived through a very similar situation, amd judges hands are tied unless there is a danger to themselves or others......my situation ended extremely bad also......some pains never go away, you just learn to live with it.
Question.....has anyone ever said the word **no** to Harry, you can't do that? I don't think Charles cam or will do much to stop Harry as it is out of his control.

?Palace sources today denied that the Royal Family is 'snubbing' Harry and Meghan on the anniversary of the Queen's death - as King Charles prepared to spend the day in quiet reflection at Balmoral.
The Daily Mail revealed last week there were no plans to mark the occasion publicly involving members of the family and that His Majesty would spend the day quietly reflecting on the moment at Birkhall, his home on the Balmoral estate.
Following claims in The Sun that the Sussexes had been left out of commemorations, a source said it was 'simply untrue' to say that they had been snubbed and there are no plans for any public event or for any private family gathering to mark the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's demise.?

I'm not surprised that the King and Queen will extend their time in Scotland in order to be there for the anniversary of QEII's passing. The late Queen chose to extend her time at Sandringham each winter to remember her late father King George VI. I expect that Anne/Timothy, Andrew/Sarah and Edward/Sophie will be there on the anniversary too. As for the late QEII's grandchildren and great-grandchildren who live in the UK, they're likely to have a family gathering towards the end of the summer and before the start of the new school year. September 8 falls on a Friday this year.

Crathie Kirk is a small Church of Scotland parish church in the Scottish village of Crathie, best known for being the regular place of worship of the British royal family when they are in residence at the nearby Balmoral Castle.
I'm glad KCIII is maintaining the tradition of spending this time at Balmoral Castle.

Are Charles and Camilla STILL at Balmoral? A very lengthy summer/autumn break if they are.
While they're both at Balmoral, they seem to be doing quite a number of engaements there. I have to wonder if some of the work scheduled for the palaces in London during the summer/early fall of 2022 had to be pushed forward to 2023 due to the death of QEII and all of the events associated with her passing?

Yes, that?s probably so. Though they seem to have been comfortably ensconced at Clarence House for the time being when in London, as parts of BP have been a building site for some time now and are likely to stay that way for years more. CH doesn?t need urgent repairs too, does it? There?s always Windsor I suppose but Charles doesn?t seem to be very fond of that abode. Perhaps it?s their age and they?ve been worn out by the past twelve months and just need to relax in the fresh air. It will start getting a bit brisk at Balmoral in another month or so, though.
Read this extract from an article in the Daily Express, about King Charles being bullied at Gordonstoun:
'The 13-year-old was once grabbed as he came out the showers before being tied up, bundled into a wicker laundry basket hung from the wall and blasted with freezing water. He was left there - naked and shivering - for half an hour until a staff member heard his distressed cries, the book claims.'
I also read this in an article about a visit to a block of flats in Islington back in 2013 from Female First:
Britain's Prince Charles is scared of lifts.
The 65-year-old royal has confessed he suffers from a phobia of elevators and always tries to take the stairs whenever possible since he doesn't like being confined in small spaces.
When he met teacher Shehnaz O'Mallie at her block of flats in Islington, north London, yesterday (14.02.13) he asked he whether the lifts in the building worked.
She said: "We always take the stairs", to which he bashfully replied: "So do I. I'm always terrified of lifts."
Wonder whether the two articles could be connected in any way 🤔🤔🤔? Or if the articles are even true?

As to the story being true, it's possible that King Charles like many other does feel claustrophobic in an elevator.

New Dean of Windsor Installed
At a Service attended by Their Majesties The King and Queen on Thursday 23 November the Right Reverend Christopher Cocksworth was installed as the 65th Dean of Windsor.
https://www.stgeorges-windsor.org/news/new-dean-of-windsor-installed/
Towards the start of the Service the Chapter Clerk informed the College of St George and other members of the congregation that a short Chapter meeting was held earlier in the day at which The King?s Letters Patent and the Writ of Mandamus were read, that the Dean Designate had taken the necessary oaths and declarations and therefore the Canons would ?invest him in his jurisdiction and cure, and assign him his stall in Quire and his place and voice in Chapter.?
During the Service the Dean was presented with a copy of the College Statutes, a pastoral staff and the Bible. He was asked to make a series of promises. As an example of the serious nature of such promises, he was asked, after Canon Finlay had read verses 25 to 30 from the 19th Chapter of the Gospel of St John: ?Will you in the proclamation of the word and the administration of the sacraments seek to serve all who live, work and visit in this place, so making known the presence of God with his people?? A little later Canon Finlay, Canon Poll and Canon Powell jointly placed the Dean in the stall assigned to his office saying ?We assign to you, Right Reverend Father, this chief stall in the Quire, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.? The Dean then lead the congregation in the Lord?s Prayer; the Choir sang the Te Deum and the Dean preached the sermon.
Dean Cocksworth was educated at Manchester University and trained for ministry at St John?s College, Nottingham. He served his title at Christ Church, Epsom Common, in the diocese of Guildford, and was ordained priest in 1989.
In 1992 he was appointed Chaplain at Royal Holloway, University of London, and Bedford New College and from 1997 to 2001 he served as Director at the Southern Theological and Education Training Scheme (STETS). From 1999 he held the additional title of Honorary Canon at Guildford Cathedral. In 2001 Christopher was appointed Principal of Ridley Hall, University of Cambridge.
In 2008 he was appointed as Bishop of Coventry. He is married and has five adult sons.

Balmoral
The King will spend most of January in Scotland as he cements a new royal tradition.
The King, 75, and the Queen, 76, spent New Year's Eve at Sandringham, but they are expected to fly up to Aberdeenshire within the next day or two.
The King has long cherished his January retreat to Scotland, a routine he has kept for many years.
This time, for the second consecutive year, his days will be punctuated with the arrival of his red boxes of Government papers, but otherwise, it will largely be a time to recharge the batteries.

Neither should be counsellors of state for the disgraceful actions and choices they made which affect their standing in the monarchy and the family. This is another lesson hopefully they learned the very hard way about what they did. All words and decisions in our life have consequences.

It happened a whole three times in the late Queen?s entire 70 year reign (and one was in the touring on Britannia days) so I doubt very much that any of the appointed Counsellors now are standing near a phone waiting for an urgent call or wondering about consequences!

Fortunately the Counsellors of State are rarely asked to fulfill their roles as
@Curryong pointed out. Besides, with the addition of Anne and Edward to the role, Andrew and Harry will not be needed. There's also Camilla, William, and Beatrice there too.

All State visits are at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, so it's not a 'personal' invite per se.
