Title: Prince Writes to Residents in Cornwall Telling He Can Mine Under Their Homes
Post by: cinrit on September 20, 2014, 11:47:23 AM
QuoteVillagers have been shocked by a letter from Prince Charles telling them he has the right to mine under their homes.  The Duchy of Cornwall estate has written to residents in Cornwall to inform them that the Prince owns the land beneath their feet.

The Duchy insisted it had no plans to actually mine the land, but was simply renewing its ancestral rights as a result of a change in the law.  But some residents say they fear the letters are an early warning as the letters recommend they get legal advice.

They must have gotten really scared to get such an official letter.  I hope that they have been sufficiently reassured that Prince Charles and a bunch of miners are not going to dig up their houses.  What this letter did was rather like renewing your drivers license even if you don't own a car or drive any longer.  Kinda funny though!
