His Royal Highness, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon held a Reception in the garden of Hillsborough Castle for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of County Down (Mr Gawn Rowan Hamilton).

The Duke of Edinburgh later visited the Veterans Garden at Baronscourt Estate, Newtownstewart, Omagh, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of County Tyrone (Mr Robert Scott).

Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, represent the Royal Family as they attend a service to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS at Westminster Abbey. Some of the other guests include Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, NHS England Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard, Mary Parsons who was the first nurse to administer the Covid vaccine and Amanda Holden.

Our Summer on Stage young performers had a very special visitor! We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh to the theatre.

The Duke of Edinburgh at presentation of new colours to London Guards ? Royal Central

The Duke of Edinburgh has presented new colours to the London Guards in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke, who is The Colonel of the 1st Battalion London Guards, handed over the new colours before 100 soldiers after a blessing by the Chaplain General.

The 1st Battalion London Guards is the redesignation of the London Regiment which is the Army Reserve of the capital.

The change was made in 2022 but the new colours, which replace those of the London Regiment, weren?t presented until July 9th 2023.

The Duchess of Edinburgh has been bestowed two new military honours by The King in a series of appointments.

Her Royal Highness has become both Colonel-in-Chie of The Royal Irish Regiment and Royal Colonel of The Queen?s Own Yeomanry.

Following King Charles III?s Accession to the throne, His Majesty is honouring members of his family with new military appointments.

This includes the Duchess of Edinburgh, who adds these new roles to her existing military appointments.

Every year, Sophie holds an annual competition in which her affiliated regiments from the UK and Canada compete against each other in a series of challenges, to foster cooperation.

The Duke of Edinburgh has also been appointed to two new military roles.

Prince Edward becomes Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Dragoon Guards as well as the Colonel-in-Chief of The Queen?s Royal Hussars.

For twenty years, Edward has served as Royal Honorary Colonel of The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, whose troops have deployed in support of both The Queen?s Royal Hussars and The Royal Dragoon Guards.

Duchess of Edinburgh celebrates Devon?s charity heroes at historic mill - Devon Live

Volunteers from various charities across Devon have received a Royal commendation from HRH Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, at a special breakfast event held at Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme on Wednesday, September 20.

The event was hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, David Fursdon, the King?s representative in the county. The event aimed to bring together some of the 4,000 Devon charities to discuss their challenges and how the Lieutenancy Office can help them.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, a patron of several charities, thanked the volunteers for their invaluable contribution to society and urged them to network with each other and local authorities and businesses to find solutions to some of the problems they face.

?A huge thank you to all of you for giving your time today and perhaps for some of you, for the first step towards solving some of the existing issues and moving the ball forward,? she said.

The Duchess of Edinburgh in Rome to pay homage to Italy?s former President ? Royal Central

The Duchess of Edinburgh travelled to Rome to attend the State Funeral for former President Giorgio Napolitano.

The royal was among the many foreign authorities that landed in the Italian Capital on Tuesday, 26th September, to take part in the non-religious service that took place in the main room of the lower House of the Italian Parliament.

The Duchess was seen observing as the coffin of the former Head of State arrived for the service from the Senate, where it laid for public viewing since the day after Napolitano?s death.

The commemoration ceremony was opened by speeches from the presidents of the two branches of Parliament, followed by family members and friends, which included former Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi.

Giorgio Napolitano passed away aged 98 on Friday, 22nd September. He left behind his wife, Clio Bittoni, their two children, Giulio and Giovanni, and their two grandchildren, Sofia and Simone.

During his visit to Turkey, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh is set to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as the UK and Turkey work to develop trade relations and defence. The rare meeting of a member of the British Royal Family, and the Turkish President comes on the heels of a visit by UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

devoted charity worker who has raised more than ?10m for the NSPCC has been recognised by the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Sophie visited the children's charity's hub in Nottingham on Thursday where she met fundraiser Jenny Farr MBE.

During the visit Sophie, a patron for the charity, spoke with Mrs Farr and other staff members and volunteers.

The 90-year-old, who has been fundraising for more than 60 years, said she was honoured to meet the duchess.

Mrs Farr, who started working with children as a physiotherapist at Nottingham City Hospital, was inspired to support the charity when she helped children who had contracted polio.

"[The Duchess of Edinburgh] is a very special lady I think," said Mrs Farr.

"The recognition she gives to us is special. She understands the real history and the real need of this charity.

"She has been extremely interesting, helpful, observant - she's ahead of the game in my opinion."

The hub where Sophie visited was named Jenny Farr House in tribute to the fundraiser's long service and support.
