A portrait of the Queen by British photographer David Bailey has been released in honour of her 88th birthday on Monday.
The black and white photo, which shows the Queen smiling, was taken in March. She is pictured wearing pearls, and a dress by Angela Kelly, who has served as personal assistant and senior dresser to her since 2002.

Traditional gun salutes will mark the Queen's 88th birthday today. She will be spending the day privately at Windsor Castle, a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said.
The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will fire a 41-gun royal salute from Green Park in central London at midday, using six 13 pounder First World War guns drawn by 71 horses.
An hour later the Honourable Artillery Company will fire a 62 Gun royal salute from Tower Wharf by the Tower of London.

In theory, a new portrait of Elizabeth II might not offer much in the way of surprise. After all, many of us carry around familiar images of Her Majesty in our pockets, on loose change and bank notes. Yet for some reason this one does surprise, and it has as much to do with the subject of the photograph as the special genius of the man who captured it.
The Queen, to quote the words of the National Anthem, looks "Happy and Glorious". In striking black and white, she gazes towards the viewer with such a broad smile and an expression of contentment that it is quite difficult not to smile back. Speaking of his subject, Mr Bailey said she "has very kind eyes with a mischievous glint". This work communicates that insight, and Mr Bailey is to be congratulated for it.
In the portrait, the Queen has chosen to wear the Cambridge Pearl Pendant, which once belonged to her great-great-grandmother, a 19th-century Duchess of Cambridge. Perhaps it is merely a coincidence – but as the present Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue their tour of Australia, the brooch is another small symbol of the Royal family's continuity and tradition.
