Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II! It is nice to see that the tradition is still continuing.

I was afraid this would go by the wayside this year, but sending by post is brilliant. Since the money is specially minted it wouldn't do to hold it over until next year. I wonder how they determine who gets the little bags.

By the way, forgot this article, which reports that among the small crowd gathered to watch the Queen open the Scottish Parliament boos were heard as the monarch was driven away. I saw a video of the event in which the boos were clearly heard, but it was a Lipstick Alley video (with a report by RR Rhiannon for Sky TV on the event. She mentioned the divided crowd but not the booing) so can?t link it here. However it?s also mentioned here. The BRF attendance at Scotland?s political events are becoming increasingly unpopular anyway.

More on QEII's first engagement since she was hospitalized.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/queen-elizabeth-official-duties-hospital-1.6225119

QuoteQueen Elizabeth carried out her first official engagement on Tuesday since spending a night in hospital and being ordered to rest by her doctors.

The 95-year-old queen, the world's oldest and longest-reigning monarch, stayed overnight at London's King Edward VII private hospital last Wednesday after undergoing "preliminary investigations" for an unspecified but not COVID-19-related ailment.

It was Elizabeth's first overnight hospital stay in years, but royal officials said she was in good spirits and she returned to her Windsor Castle home the following day where she got back to carrying out light duties.

On Tuesday, she carried out two virtual audiences to welcome the new ambassadors to Britain from South Korea and Switzerland. Pictures showed the monarch, wearing a yellow dress, smiling and looking her usual self during the engagement.
