QuoteThe Duke of Cambridge?s first foreign visit since he travelled to the Republic of Ireland with wife Kate in February 2020 comes as the royal family is seeking to strengthen ties with the Gulf State, after recent visits to the Middle East, including Jordan and Israel.

It's not only the BRF that seeks to strengthn ties to the Gulf State but also the British Government. We know this as the trip was requested by the Foreign Office.

Hard to believe it's been two years since he's undertaken an overseas official visit since the start of the pandemic.

Kate arrived at her first engagement  at the Copenhagen Infant Mental Health Project at the University of Copenhagen.

The Duchess of Cambridge was in Denmark to visit the Infant Mental Health Programme at Copenhagen University.

The centre aims to raise awareness about the impact of the early years of a child's development.

During the visit, the British royal spent time learning about how Denmark has created a culture for early childhood development, specifically how the country has promoted infant mental wellbeing alongside physical health, and how it harnesses the power of nature, relationships and playful learning in the first five years of life.

When the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Lego Foundation to learn about the importance of play, there was only one way she could enter: down a 20-foot-high spiral slide, in her heels.
The Duchess opted to skip the stairs at the Play Lab in Copenhagen, saying: ?In the spirit of where I am, I had to do it.?
Kate was there to hear how students embarking on careers in childcare about play as a critical way to teach pre-schoolers the skills to equip them for life.
When her hosts told her that some staff used the slide instead of the stairs to get down a floor to the Play Lab, she gave her handbag to an aide and said she ought to do the same. The Duchess, who is on a two-day visit to Denmark to learn how the country has pioneered efforts to give infants a better start in life, confessed her own children, Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, were jealous she was visiting Lego.
?My children are very jealous they weren?t coming to see the Lego Foundation. They were like, ?hang on, there?s Lego and we?re not coming??? she said.
Shown a bit of Lego by Mikkel Hogsbo, an ambassador for the foundation, the future Queen revealed she had spent part of last week, her children?s half-term, building Lego with them. ?I spent this weekend trying to build a water-filled construction and trying to find all the green bits. I was like, ?this is good training?,? she said.
During a visit to B?rnemuseet, the Children?s Museum in Frederiksberg, to hear about the ?Understanding Your Baby Project?, the Duchess said there should be just as much discussion about the social and emotional development of young children as their physical milestones. It makes me very broody'
After meeting with two eight-month-old baby boys and their parents, she joked: ?It makes me very broody.
?William always worries about me meeting under one-year-olds. I come home saying ?let?s have another one?.?
She also visited the University of Copenhagen to learn about its ?infant mental health project?, which researches the wellbeing of babies and their bond with parents.
Meet the Danish Queen
The Queen has asked senior members of the family to continue working while she has Covid-19, and Kate will meet the Danish Queen and Crown Princess in a gesture of continuing friendship.
Denmark is credited with raising some of the world?s happiest children and has produced a spate of fashionable parenting books including The Danish Way of Parenting: What the Happiest People In the World Know About Raising Confident Capable Kids.
The Duchess, who has read the books as part of her research and own parenting journey, subscribes to much of the Danish style, from the importance of play and nature activities to the benefits of nurseries and viewing typical toddler behaviour not as ?naughty? but as ?communication?.
Andreas Rasch-Christensen, research director in early years at VIA University College, spent an hour talking to the Duchess in preparation for the trip. He said the Danish people and politicians had total consensus about the best way to bring up children, suggesting that same cross-party agreement could one day also be established in Britain.
Happiest people in the world
Kensington Palace said: ?Denmark is a beacon of best practice with its approach to early childhood as well as consistently ranking near the top of countries with the happiest people in the world.
?During the visit, Her Royal Highness will spend time learning about how Denmark has created an enabling culture for early childhood development, specifically how it has promoted infant mental wellbeing alongside physical health, and how it harnesses the power of nature, relationships and playful learning in the first five years of life.?
The trip is a working visit for the Duchess?s Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
?On this trip, it will learn from Denmark?s example as a country widely recognised as a world leader in its approach and investment in early childhood development,? the palace said of the organisation.
As well as several engagements about childcare, the Kate will receive an official welcome from Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II. The pair will have much to talk about: the Danish Queen is celebrating her Golden Jubilee this year while the Queen marks her Platinum Jubilee. Both monarchs have also contracted Covid-19 this month.
On Wednesday, the Duchess will join Crown Princess Mary to visit her project to protect vulnerable women and children from domestic violence.
