QuoteAs the leader of a social action campaign in the UK – Step Up To Serve – Charles will chat to teenagers and young people around the country about the value of social responsibility and giving back to the community.

Shouldn't he have taught his Son William this before he started preaching to others about it.

Thank you for the information marine. Hope that the message will resonate with some of the youth in the nation.

QuoteHangout with The Prince of Wales at Home for the #iwill Campaign

On 20th November 2014, HRH The Prince of Wales will meet young people involved in social action across the UK via his first ever Google+ Hangout.  This will mark the first anniversary of the #iwill campaign which he launched in 2013 with support from the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

The #iwill campaign is run by Step Up To Serve, an independent charity set-up to coordinate all related activity.

#iwill aims to make social action the norm for all 10-20 year olds in the UK by 2020.  Youth social action is defined as 'young people taking practical action in the service of others', such as volunteering, fundraising or campaigning.  #iwill also promotes the fact that social action not only benefits the young participants, but also strengthens their communities, creating a 'double benefit'.

The campaign is working across society to: spread the word about the benefits of youth social action; embed it in the lives of all 10-20 year olds; and create fresh opportunities for them to take part.

From Clarence House's Storify account:

QuoteHangout at Home with The Prince of Wales for the #iwill Campaign

The Prince of Wales took part in his first Google+ Hangout today, as he welcomed young ambassadors from the #iwill campaign to join him at his official London home to share their experiences of social action.

The Google+ Hangout marks the first anniversary of the campaign, which is run by the charity Step up to Serve with the aim of making social action the norm for all 10-20 year olds in the UK by 2020.

Whether volunteering, fundraising or campaigning, social action is about young people taking practical action in the service to others.

For the #iwill ambassadors taking part, excitement to share their stories with The Prince one year after its launch was building...

I think this is very interesting. Thanks for sharing, marine and cinrit.

In the US, communities aren't as cohesive as they were. Families are distributed all over the country and have lost that important connection, making most of their friends at work and not knowing neighbors.

I applaud any effort that encourages social action and service  by young people.

This is a great example of what politicians and government can't do and the royals can. The royals will be around while pols come and go. They can provide continuity, stability and example by supporting charities.
