So is American sign language different to English sign language?
That's something I never thought about, the different sign language would have to marry the countries wouldn't it?

Lothwen

I am planning on taking some sign language classes when I go back to school. I know some signs, like the alphabet, days of the week, love, thank you, bathroom, hello, good-bye, and beautiful, but you can't carry on a conversation with those

Lindelle, I think the difference between ASL and ESL is ASL generally uses one hand and ESL uses both hands

Usually not, the difference in sign languages is per language rather than country. Most of the English sign language is the same in English speaking countries, as Spanish sign language to their deft in Spain, South America and so on.
