QuoteKladruby nad Labem, East Bohemia, April 16 (CTK) - A granite memorial plaque dedicated to Habsburg Empress Elisabeth (1837-1898) was accidentally found during the reconstruction of the National Stud Farm in Kladruby after 100 years, its director Jiri Machek told CTK Wednesday.

Empress Elisabeth of Austria, called Sissi, was the wife of Habsburg Emperor Franz Joseph I (1830-1916), whose empire also included the Czech Lands until 1918 when the Czechoslovak Republic was established.

The empress and her husband visited the stud stud farm in Kladruby several times.

"It is well known that she was a great horse rider, one of the best in Europe then," Machek said.
