[AbsolutelyWilliam] PRINCESS STRIKES CHORD

Green was the colour when Princess Anne made a historic visit to open a new Bodmin Moor primary school yesterday.

The St Neot Community Primary School uniform is green and so was the Princess Royal's smart two-piece suit.

The excited villagers and the school's 68 pupils waited patiently to greet the popular Princess and welcome her to their sparkling new school, opened just a month ago.

The Princess, whose helicopter landed on the village cricket pitch, packed plenty into a visit of less than an hour before zooming off to other engagements including the first day of the Royal Cornwall Show.

And the princess even had a VIP police escort, thanks to the presence of Devon and Cornwall Chief Constable Maria Wallace.

Princess Anne chatted to children in all three classes, looked at photographs of the old village school and unveiled the original 1872 bell, now mounted on a slab of slate from the nearby Carnglaze quarry.

She was presented with an inscribed plate made by blind St Neot potter Jack Greenwood.
