[WilliamDaily] WALKABOUT BAN FOR QUEEN IN BIN LADEN SCARE

WALKABOUT BAN FOR QUEEN IN BIN LADEN SCARE

THE Queen has been BANNED from doing a walkabout tomorrow to
celebrate her Coronation - because of fears she will be a "sitting
duck" for terrorists.

Her Majesty desperately wanted to meet subjects after the Westminster
Abbey service to mark 50 years since she was crowned.

But with heightened fears of an attack by anti-West maniacs including
Al-Qaida, Royal Protection Squad chiefs have refused to give the go-
ahead.

A senior source told The People: "Both Britain and America are on a
high state of alert at the moment, and a high-profile occasion like
the Queen's Coronation service is an obvious target.

"As it is, the Westminster Abbey event will be one of the highest
security operations in the capital in recent years.

"A walkabout would make it even more of a risk. Her Majesty and
Prince Philip would be sitting ducks and in the current climate
there's no way it could go ahead."

The decision was made after a series of meetings between Royal aides
and Scotland Yard's most senior officers.

The Abbey is only yards from the "ring of concrete" thrown round the
Houses of Parliament last week to thwart potential threats from Osama
Bin Laden's Al-Qaida terror group. The service is the year's most
important Royal event - with Buckingham Palace calling it
the "crowning glory" of the Jubilee celebrations.

It will be attended by senior Royals including Princes Charles,
Andrew, Edward and Princess Anne, and Prince William.

British dignitaries, led by PM Tony Blair and his ministers, will be
joined by VIPs from around the world including Commonwealth heads of
state and religious leaders. More than 1,000 members of the public,
chosen by ballot, will also be at the event which will be broadcast
live to millions on BBC TV and radio.

The source added: "The Queen was extremely disappointed, because she
saw meeting the public as an essential part of her celebration.

"But she completely understood that it would be too much of a risk at
present.

"Perhaps there will be a walkabout at a later date. But it won't be
the same."

Prince Harry will be absent tomorrow to take an exam - but
importantly Camilla Parker Bowles has been invited.

A Royal aide told The People: "Her invitation to the Abbey is hugely
significant.

"It seems like Camilla's days at the margins of Royal life are
finally over. It could even pave the way, in the long-term, for
something more permanent between Charles and Camilla."
