The Duke of Sussex will visit The Netherlands on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th May 2019, Buckingham Palace says. While there he will undertake an official engagement in Amsterdam before going to The Hague to launch the one year countdown to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

QuoteDuring Harry?s visit he will meet Princess Margriet of the Netherlands (King William-Alexander?s aunt), who was named honorary chair of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 committee last week. She will join Prince Harry at the official kick-off meeting on 9 May.

Image of Harry chewing his nails down to the quick! He really wants to go to the Netherlands! Come on Baby Sussex! I know it's nice and comfy where you are, but the expense accounts of some foreign media for food, drink and sundries are probably causing their bosses heartburn. (There is a large contingent of Aussie media there in Windsor as well!)

Should Baby Sussex make his/her entrance really close to next Wed./Thurs. I am sure that the NL Invictus team will understand.  :)

Blue Clover

I wonder if the baby is due the week after next? If Harry will be gone most of the week. I guess he can always return if he needs too. I'm sure they have it all worked out! The BRF is efficient if anything.  :hehe:

Apparently the trip has changed to in/out in 1 day

Prince Harry has decided to postpone part of his trip to the Netherlands. He will no longer be visiting Amsterdam on Wednesday.

He will still attend the launch of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 on Thursday. He will fly in & out the same day.

Prince Harry is still expected to meet with Princess Margriet of the Netherlands (King William-Alexander?s aunt) on Thursday, when she joins him for the launch.

Princess Margriet was named honorary chair of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 committee last week.

The title of the DM is misleading, he cancelled Amsterdam, but not The Hague...for now. It's probably a clue #BabySussexMayThe4thBeWithYou  :teehee:

@dianab-There are reports that it is due to a "logistical problem" as the PoW and DssoC are headed to Germany that week. (Not sure how it affects Harry's trip but these are the claims.)

The Duke of Sussex?s visit to Amsterdam postponed ? Royal Central

QuoteBuckingham Palace has announced that the Duke of Sussex?s scheduled visit to Amsterdam on the 8th of May has been postponed. He is still expected to visit The Hague on Thursday the 9th of May for the launch of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 as planned. The postponement is said to be due to logistical challenges. The full statement reads, ?Due to the logistical planning for the travelling press to cover visits and engagements by The Royal Family, we have taken the decision to postpone The Duke of Sussex?s scheduled visit to Amsterdam on Wednesday 8 May 2019.?

amabel

Presumably they want the royal press hacks to follow Charles and Camilla, more than Harry.. so they are cancelling part of his trip.  However it all looks very messy. I dotn know why he is going at all, when the baby is either expected or may have been born by then.

Some RR's and RP's have confirmed that there is not enough Correspondents for all the official events officially notified in this order:

1st to officially notify Clarence House, German Visit
2nd to officially notify Kensington Palace, Wales Visit
3rd to officially notify Buckingham Palace (Communications Secretary of H&M) The Netherlands Visit

Plus the RoyalBabyWatch with local/international correspondents at Windsor Long Walk, stationed and moved to RBB, BB, Hotels there since the beginning of this week. Waiting...

One RP said it straight, his BOSS had him scheduled to work in Germany for C&C, just yesterday his BOSS told him to reschedule to The Hague, his Flight ticket to Germany can be used if the airline travels also to the Hague, if not, its a lost ticket, pay penalty if reusing before 1 year validty.  Note: SM Sussex Squad is blaming William.  :D   Other RR/RP are being quiet, they are not disclosing where their employers are sending them, obviously some have airline(international) or train tickets (wales) already purchased to Germany/Wales before last week's Netherlands announcement.

The Duke of Sussex was in The Hague today to attend the ?One year to go Invictus Games The Hague 2020? event. Prince Harry arrived at the Sportcampus in the Zuiderpark in The Hague and began with a basketball training session. He tried his hand at archery and managed to hit a bullseye. He learned more about the preparations that are underway and met with several potential competitors. During a speech, Prince Harry said, ?Make these Games your own. We chose you for a reason. And not just because I like the colour orange.? Afterwards, he rode a bicycle around the Zuiderpark to see how the preparations are going.

Prince Harry also met up with Princess Margriet, King Willem-Alexander?s aunt, who is the Honorary Chair of the
Recommendation Committee of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, and the mayor of The Hague, Pauline Krikke. Princess Margriet greeted the Duke with three kisses and well-wishes for his newborn son Archie. Later on, he also received a special Invictus Games onesie from Princess Margriet.

Glad to see that Harry met Princess Margriet and was able to complete his mission at The Hague, for Invictus, his other baby! And Harry received some cute gifts for his little son. Let's hope Archie will not need to take over a patronage like Invictus as an adult.
