The Queen has knighted her sons Andrew and Edward to mark the 50th anniversary of her Coronation,. The Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex have both been appointed Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO). In addition, the Queen has awarded Prince Michael of Kent the senior honour of Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO).

That's kind of weird.  Why would they be knighted if they already have a title?
