Royal family mourn death of duke
« on: August 17, 2017, 03:22:34 PM »
The Duke of Beaufort, great friend of the royal family, owner of the magnificent Badminton estate in Gloucestershire, has died aged 89.

Peerage News: 11th Duke of Beaufort 1928-2017

The Duke of Beaufort, a former equestrian himself, was host to many members of the Royal Family at the annual Badminton Horse Trials held on the family estate.

He inherited the title in 1984 on the death of a cousin, the 10th duke, who had married Lady Mary Cambridge, a first cousin of King George VI, but who died childless.

The twice wed duke is succeeded in the family honours by his eldest son, "Bunter" Marquess of Worcester.
