Henry was the youngest of four sons. He was expected to become a bishop.   
How far did he receive a religious education to be a bishop?

Anselm, the Archbishop of Canterbury denied King Henry I the right to appoint bishops. In 1103 Henry exiled the Archbishop.

When his father, King William I, had died in 1087, the future Henry I had received neither titles nor land. All Henry received was 5,000 pounds in silver.

Adeliza of Louvain was the second Queen Consort of King Henry I. In 1126 she issued her first independent charter as principal signatory. The charter was a grant to the canons of Holy Trinity at Christchurch London.
