On the evening of October 1, 1766 Princess Caroline Matilda was married to King Christian VII of Denmark in a proxy ceremony in England.
The new bride, who had yet to meet her groom, was later conducted to the carriage that would convey her to the royal yacht at Norwich.
The Danes had refused to allow their new queen to bring even one English lady-in-waiting with her to Denmark.

King Christian VII and Caroline Mathilde were divorced, the Danish authorities deported their former Queen to Hanover. Due to her behavior, King George III preferred not to have her back in England.

Despite her exile, Caroline Mathilde never stopped hoping that she would see her children again. She gave card parties and she did needlework. Also she attended church.

It was common for royal women marrying inot a foreign country, to not be allowed to bring their own ladies in waiting.  The idea was thaht they had to adjust to being in a new country and make it THEIR country and not be chattering in their native language with their own women, who would probably not settle well inot a new place either.
