Princess Alexandra will undoubtedly hope to participate in all Alexandra Rose Days. However, she is an old lady, (over 80,) and has experienced a lot of bad health over the past year or so.

Also, at least for senior and the more high profile royals-- The Queen, Charles and Camilla, the Cambridges, Harry--their offices at BP, KP, CH have taken to often not announcing their engagements and arrangements until just before they happen, or not at all as with the Queen's surprise visit to Manchester yesterday to see the victims of the terrorist bombing there. I'm not sure that this will cover minor royals such as the Gloucesters and Kents, but it may very well do so to a certain extent, and with the nation on high alert that's likely to continue for the foreseeable future, IMHO.

(On another note, I've also noticed that the official website that takes note of engagements of the BRF has been neglected since it was redesigned late last year. A lot of engagements for all members of the royal family haven't been recorded for February when it's known that they did indeed carry them out (photos in the newspapers, etc) and some dates in May are missing as well. If the staff at the Palaces and at CH have decided to have such a new 'improved' website, (and they did)  then keep the darn thing accurate and up to date, I say, 'cos it's no use to man nor beast the way it is.)

Astonishing, the sterling work these Homes have done since 1916, including helping to patch up and care for young servicemen's bodies and minds in the midst of a dreadful war to taking care of the very elderly of WW2, Korean War and the rest in 2019.

Princess Alexandra is a stoic as most of the older royals are. And her length of service to these Homes and other causes is inspiring. However she hasn't been in the best of health in the last few years and looks frail. I wouldn't be surprised if she and her brother retire when the new reign begins, though hopefully that won't happen for a long time, and she hands her patronages on. She has served all of them well, in spite of little publicity.

I am amazed that QEII's Kent cousins have continued on as long as their cousin @Curryong. Especially when you consider their recent health issues. However Edward Kent has stated that they'll continue for as long as QEII does, so I wouldn't expect them to retire any time soon.

I'm sorry about my poor memory, but a few years ago there was an announcement on another forum that she had a certain illness and was unlikely to be seen for several months. I thought perhaps she had overcome it, since she was seen again later on.  Perhaps that illness is chronic and she has flare-ups.  If I can find the time I'll research it.

I know she was ill a few years ago, wasn't she?  and it was round that time that Harry left the army.. so possibly one reason was for him to start becoming a full time royal as Alexandra might be retiring.  But she recovered..

Princess Alexandra praises hospital at forefront of coronavirus treatment ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/royal-praise-for-hospital-at-forefront-of-covid-19-pandemic-141393/)

QuotePrincess Alexandra has thanked staff working at a hospital treating patients with Covid-19. The Queen?s cousin praised their efforts in a message sent to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex as it marked its 55th anniversary.

The hospital, in Harlow, was named in honour of the princess and she officially opened it back in 1965. On the exact anniversary of the ceremony, Alexandra sent a message to staff working at the hospital which has, in the past weeks, treated many patients with coronavirus.

In her message, Princess Alexandra said ?On the 55th Anniversary of the Opening of the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, I send you all my very best wishes, To each of you, I send my heartfelt thanks for the work you are carrying out in these difficult times?.

Well it appears that I may have been wrong regarding Princess Alexandra's possible retirement. Her calendar has been filling up in the past two months.

84-year-old Princess Alexandra steps up with an increased diary of engagements ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/kent/84-year-old-princess-alexandra-steps-up-with-an-increased-diary-of-engagements-167914/)

QuotePrincess Alexandra has noticeably stepped up the number of engagements she has been carrying out over the past few weeks, ending speculation that she may have retired from public duties.

The Queen?s cousin, who turns 85-years-old next month, conducted nine engagements in October, with a further five carried events held in September.

Prior to this, Her Royal Highness had only conducted four engagements from January to August, and conducted a total of ten engagements in the entirety of 2020.

This is no doubt due to the global health crisis of the past 20 months which has seen all members of The Royal Family significantly reduce their workload.

Nevertheless, it appears that Princess Alexandra has now returned a full diary of work.

There was much speculation in 2019 that the Princess would retire from public life after suffering from numerous injuries.

In 2018, HRH conducted 67 engagements, despite being away from work for three months with a broken wrist.

The Princess suffered a similar injury in 2017 when she broke her wrist and similarly had to cancel three months worth of engagements.

Alexandra is the Patron of over 100 organisations and has been carrying out duties on behalf of The Queen for almost seven decades.

Princess Alexandra seems to have regained much of her health just lately, as does her brother. They both will undoubtedly retire once the Queen passes but at the moment it?s carry on regardless, especially where the Duke is concerned. He?s been overseas on royal duties a couple of times in the past year.
