Title: Kate's last engagement: naming of the Royal Princess
Post by: cinrit on June 03, 2013, 06:05:02 PM
QuoteThe Duchess is reportedly planning to name a new ship on June 13, a month before her July 13 due date. The Royal Marines Band and the pipers of the Irish Guards will perform as Kate christens Princess Cruises' 3,600-passenger Royal Princess in Southampton before taking maternity leave, The Sun reports.

The naming ceremony will mark the end of Kate's royal engagements, and the beginning of a brief spell of down time before she and William welcome their first child.

A royal source revealed that the hard-working royal is determined to be at the Southampton event: "Kate has really enjoyed her job and wanted to work as close to the birth date as possible. The cruise ship christening on June 13 will be her last official solo engagement."

Title: Teachers to Dine with Duchess of Cambridge
Post by: cinrit on June 07, 2013, 11:08:37 PM
QuoteHeadteachers from an East Riding secondary school will rub shoulders with royalty when they dine with The Duchess of Cambridge next week.

Goole High School co-headteachers Danuta Tomasz and Dave Flowitt will be treated to a gala dinner with The Duchess, in what will be her last public appearance before she gives birth to her first child in July.

Mrs Tomasz and Mr Flowitt will attend the naming celebrations of the Royal Princess cruise ship in Southhampton.
The out-of-the-blue invite came thanks to the school's ongoing partnership with education specialist charity, SkillForce, whose patron is Prince William.

According to the article, it doesn't look like it's going to be an intimate lunch with just three people.  All the charities have been invited, and this is just one of them.  The Royals always seem to know what to say to everyone (impresses the heck out of me!), and I'm sure everyone is happy just to be invited.  From the article:

QuotePrince William has invited all the charities he supports, including SkillForce, to attend the naming celebrations of the luxury liner. The charity chose Goole High School as their representatives.

QuoteDuchess Of Cambridge To Host Lavish Gala Before Beginning Maternity Leave

Despite the Duchess being more than eight months pregnant it seems it'll be a busy one for her, first christening a new crusie ship the Royal Princess, in Southampton on June 13 before co-hosting a gala dinner with her husband Prince William with the couple choosing amongst their charitable organisations those guests to invite.

Speaking of their excitement of having the Duchess name their latest liner Princess Cruises' president Alan Buckelew said: "It is a great honour for Princess Cruises that Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge has accepted our invitation to become the Godmother to Royal Princess."  "We are delighted that the Duchess will launch our new ship and can think of no better way to celebrate our company's British heritage and our commitment to the country."

Co-headteachers, Danuta Tomasz and Dave Flowitt of Goole High School near Hull, are amongst two of the guests invited along to the gala dinner. Charity SkillForce, of which Prince William supports, chose the school to represent them at the event after receiving an invitation from the future monarch.

QuoteKate Middleton Is Ready to Become Godmother to a Royal Cruise Ship

Some time in the next four or five weeks, Kate Middleton will become a mother. This week she will be a godmother... to a cruise ship. And what a ship it is!

The christening ceremony in Southampton on Thursday will be the Duchess of Cambridge's final official solo engagement before she withdraws from the public gaze to prepare for the birth of her baby next month.

She has come a long way since her first official task, which was to dedicate a lifeboat at Trearddur Bay, near husband William's RAF base on Anglesey.

Royal Princess is the largest ship in Princess Cruises' 17-strong fleet.  Carrying 3,600 passengers and 1,346 crew, the vessel is 1,083 feet long and 217 feet across. It is about 73 feet longer than London's Shard is high, and it is a few feet taller than Tower Bridge.

QuoteKate to Follow in Queen and Diana's Footsteps As She Names Cruise Liner

Kate Middleton is to follow in royal tradition on Thursday when she travels to Southampton to name Princess Cruises' latest liner Royal Princess.

The Duchess of Cambridge will take part in a ceremony to officially christen the Royal Princess and will follow in the footsteps of leading ladies the Queen and Diana, Princess of Wales, who have all become godmothers to these stunning cruises. The late Princess of Wales named the original Royal Princess in 1984.

The expectant mother will christen the 3,600-passenger vessel as her final solo engagement before she takes maternity leave ahead of her mid-July birth.

QuoteDuchess of Cambridge shows her fashion  pedigree in dalmatian print Hobbs coat as she launches Royal Princess cruise ship in last solo appearance before baby arrives

She's eight months pregnant but Kate can still carry off a striking style statement. The Duchess of Cambridge cut a fashion-forward figure as she appeared at Southhampton Docks this morning to christen the Royal Princess.

Forgoing maternity clothes yet again, Kate looked chic in a £169 mac from High Street store Hobbs.

The water-resistant coat was the ideal choice for the blustery conditions at the waterside where Kate listened to a brass band play out before smashing a £1,250 Nebuchadnezzar - a 15 litre bottle of champagne the equivalent of 20 regular 75cl bottles - on the ship's hull.

She paired her coat with a sinemay hat with bow detail from royal favourite milliner Jane Taylor and black court shoes.

She  looks great.
Always  does.
She  did well.
Always  does

Her assignments, events  are  mostly  glam, fun.  Easy.
Her  serious  charities  are few  and yes, well  rehearesed, she  is  well studied , quick, a smart  girl and does very  well.

That is how  it  is and will be  I  think safe to say.

She  looks and dresses  like  her station in life before  marrying  which was rich, Upper-Class English  girl, socialite and still does and that is fine. Her style.  This  outfit  was  a bit  more edgy than waht  she usuallly wears. Thank goodness  for a heavy coat and  maybe someone took care of the dress hem as to not  have the dress fly up.
The cost  of the wine.

This  is  a  private company.  If they  wanted  a  $1,000  or $5,000 bottle  of wine, fine. The passesngers  will pay  for that bottle  before  boarding the  first cruise.  The  company  will not  lose  a  penny  or pence .
If this  were  a  public  place, a  new  hospital wing or something,  an expensive bottle  of wine  to  throw  away  would be  gluttony, greed, a waste and just sinful.

There was a tie-in to  a charity  of hers  by  having two kids there from a  children's hospice.
Fine.

Who knows but maybe part of the deal  for her being there was  that the cruise liner  donate   a  small  amount  to thatcharity. I would think it works like  this when  you have  a  high profile person  do something like this.
The  cruise liner  got  great  pr in having her  christen their new ship.

^^ The whole cruise liner is over the top. :o  I don't like cruises (especially with all the bad publicity they've been getting lately), but they're supposed to symbolize the ultimate in luxury.  Hence, that £1250 bottle of champagne.  I could feed a lot of stray animals with that money, but ...

I watched the event as it was streamed live earlier.  It didn't last long ... maybe 45 minutes.  Kate did well ... no speeches or anything.  Just christening the ship...

She didn't really have to do that much. She needs to do more with her charities instead of this sort of appearance.
I'm wondering why she had so much rouge on. She looked red in the face.

She's about a month away from giving birth.  That's why she's red in the face.  Some people refer to it as "the pregnancy glow".  As for this sort of appearance, the Queen has done the same, and so has Diana ... so she's got some good predecessors.

Im sorry if i sound mean..but i have to be honets..i think she looks  HORRENDOUS!!!
The other day just said she looked her best..now i think she looks bad...this kinda of print does nothign for her...the dress is like a bag on her...But me thinks that if  it was on another color it would be less bad..but on leopard print is just weird...ugly!!!
Not my thing honestlly...

The hair looks good color good on some pics on others not so much...nromal i guess....make up looks very heavy espcially on the cheeks shes pink in some pics....didnt liked it at all bthis look...
I think shes not a pretty prego women at all...stylish i wont even comment in more than 10 years never seen her dressing as bad as latelly...
And again with the dress going up problem...i mean less than a month seriouslly..thats why people comment so much about it...at leats this time she wore something under it..otherwise she wuld be naked again...and she dont seem to mind o n the pics as well...thats why people talk so much about it me thinks anyway..there u go....

Hmm, sophie,  K is not PD.
Well, not  pregnant  lady  is the same either...
glow, rouge, so what. Maybe she  had a bit  of reflux  a   moment before.  Maybe  she had to excuse herself  had  really  had to pass  gas..a  big gas bubble.

It  could  be  a  bit more make-up or  that glow.
So what.
She  has  eased up on her signature  eyeliner   and that  is  good.

Does anyone remeber when some people  on the 1980's  would line, draw I should their lips and eyes.
Whoa!!!!!!!!!!

sandy  and others, last month of pregnancy, no pregnancy before , whatever. I  think  , what   we  all have said    on threads before on K,   is  most likely true that  she is   not going to be   hard worker  for  the crown, her keep, her country  and  subjects.
Some charities. Lots  of  routine  easy things  like the  garden party.  Glam. Sports. Easy  fun stuff  like  the studio trip . YES, we  all know  whatever they  do  sends a  spotlight and money  to  it  whatever  it may be. That  is  NOT the point  we  are making.
We  ALL :blahblahblah:  know that ...that every event is tied  into a charity or cause  some kind  of way.

I think shes very pretty as well..but not as a prego women..seen way less prettier womens than her glow while being prego ..as well many other prettier than kate dont look theyre best either...
The thing about kate is that she always looks bad me thinks...most of the time..theres something bout her thats sad i dont know how to explaing..but especially since she got prego shes passing me this vibe.dont think she fells confortable/confidente with her body right now..wich is totally comprehensive anyway... :blowkiss:
She just looks depressed to me in some ay dont ask me why...and she just totally lost her style during the poregnancy maybe thats why shes Always sad coz she cant wait to have her body and her clothes back who knows...

I do think she overreated on the blush..she does looks very pin..at first i though it was her natural red cheecks ( thats th word?? not sure anyway) but seeing again and again is her blush me thinks.,..the yees also are heavier than normal...but the worst is the dress
But im not any fan of animal prints anyway..though that kate would neevr disapoint me on such aspect..now shes on the league of womens wo wear leopard prints and unlike many she dont looks good at all...it does fits some womens better than others anyway

Never liked animal prints myself - however it should be noted that this print is not leopard, but Dalmatian (the dogs).  Hence the comments about Cruella Deville, the villainess of 1001 Dalmatians, who wants a Dalmatian fur coat!  :happy15:

Sarcasm duly noted.  :)   Here is an explanation of "the pregnancy glow" that I mentioned, which is more than likely the reason for Kate's face being flushed:

QuoteYour skin retains more moisture during pregnancy, which plumps it up, smoothing out any fine lines and wrinkles. The pinkish glow that makes some women look radiant is caused by increased levels of the hormone progesterone, and by the extra blood circulating round your body. This may also make you feel slightly warmer and sometimes flushed.

The downside of this effect for many is that you may look puffy from water retention, and any red patches that you already have on your face may become more visible. These will eventually calm down once you've given birth. If this is your experience, remember to drink plenty of water - your skin will benefit if you keep well hydrated, which actually helps with fluid retention.

Is glowing pregnancy skin a myth? | News.com.au (http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/is-glowing-pregnancy-skin-a-myth/story-fnet08ck-1226629246676)

QuoteWhat is this? "Mask of pregnancy" is also referred to as melasma and chlosma. Melasma causes dark splotchy spots to appear on your face. These spots most commonly appear on your forehead and cheeks and are a result of increased pigmentation. When you become pregnant your body produces more hormones, which causes an increase in your pigmentation. Nearly 50% of pregnant women show some signs of the "mask of pregnancy".

QuotePregnant Kate's Last Solo Public Appearance Ends In a Smash As She Launches Cruise Ship

Kate, who is due to give birth in a month's time flew by helicopter to Southampton to attend a colourful naming ceremony for Royal Princess, a new 141,000-tonne cruise liner at the city's Ocean Terminal.

As the ship's Godmother, she was following in the footsteps of the Queen, the late Princess Diana and other senior royals in upholding a tradition of members of the family launching  vessels.

She was taking part in a ceremony involving a blessing and performances by singer Natasha Bedingfield, the band of the Royal Marines and the Irish Guards Pipers before smashing a £1,250 nebuchadnezzar of Moet et Chandon champagne over the hull of the ship.
....

Among the guests at the ceremony were 300 people from three royal charities supported by Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry - East Anglia's Children's Hospices, SkillForce, and WellChild who stayed overnight on the ship.

Think the tradition of wacking a ship with a bottle of bubbly is great but I think the wacker should get to name the ship  :angeldevil1:

No the dress isn't my taste .. but she looks great.  :flower:

I didn't like her outfit. I don't think she looked good in it. But give her props, it was a windy day and I didn't see her, what was that word?, undercrackers?

But im not any fan of animal prints anyway..though that kate would neevr disapoint me on such aspect..now shes on the league of womens wo wear leopard prints and unlike many she dont looks good at all...it does fits some womens better than others anyway
Never liked animal prints myself - however it should be noted that this print is not leopard, but Dalmatian (the dogs).  Hence the comments about Cruella Deville, the villainess of 1001 Dalmatians, who wants a Dalmatian fur coat!  :happy15:

As ive said dont like it..it just gives me a weird feeling..extravgant ugly thing dont know how to explain...maybe thats why i really dont pau attention to the print..if its animal...i dont like it honetslly...
As ive said anyway some wear it better than others...tghats not kates case anyway...
I dont think she looks like cruella anyway...she looks like  bag of potato in  very bad print...ewww...this is  bad look i hate it..sorry

QuoteThe Duchess of Cambridge Attends a Princess Cruises' Ship Naming Ceremony

The Duchess of Cambridge carried out her last solo engagement today before her baby is born - launching a new liner.

Her Royal Highness attended the naming ceremony of Princess Cruises' 3,600-passenger vessel Royal Princess.

She took her place on a stage in blustery conditions that threatened rain and seated opposite in a large grandstand were guests associated with charities that have The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge or Prince Harry as their patrons.

Spectators were from East Anglia's Children's Hospice, The Duchess's charity, SkillForce which has The Duke as its figurehead, and Prince Harry's organisation WellChild.

Later, The Duchess was taken on a tour of the cruise ship by the Captain and after meeting staff in the vessel's atrium she visited the bridge.  She had views across Southampton waters and was shown the ship's bell from the previous Royal Princess associated with the late Diana, The Princess of Wales.

What happened to the gala dinner Kate was supposed to attend after the christening of the ship?

^^ The dinner was held the night before the christening.  There were about 300 attendees, and they all spent the night on the ship after the dinner, then attended the christening the next day.  It's reported in one of the articles above, but I don't remember which one.

The 300 attendees must have had the dinner and slept aboard the ship the night before, because the ship left for Barcelona the day of the naming ceremony, after Kate's tour.

Kate flew in by helicopter right before the actual naming ceremony, then according to other articles, arrived at the ship by chauffeur-driven limousine. So, it sounds like Kate did not attend that dinner - only those 300 people from the charities ate that dinner and slept aboard the ship. (And I guess those teachers did not rub elbows with Kate at the dinner, as another article before the event claimed.)

We cannot trust these tabloids - they claim all kinds of things are going to happen, then they don't. They are constantly distorting the truth.

I remember another tabloid article claiming William was going to be at that shipboard dinner with Kate, but he was photographed taking the train from Anglessey to London on Wednesday, so was nowhere near Southampton for that dinner on Tuesday night.

QuoteKate, who is due to give birth in a month's time flew by helicopter to Southampton to attend a colourful naming ceremony for Royal Princess, a new 141,000-tonne cruise liner at the city's Ocean Terminal...
.....

Among the guests at the ceremony were 300 people from three royal charities supported by Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry - East Anglia's Children's Hospices, SkillForce, and WellChild who stayed overnight on the ship.

William was never intended to be at the dinner, he only helped choose the invitees.

Thank you for the article, Candyflower. Your article states that the ship is not leaving till Sunday. I guess I was misinformed by a different article. It looks like Sunday, June 16 is probably the correct departure date.

There was an article dated June 7 that claimed that William and Kate were going to co-host this gala dinner:

QuoteDespite the Duchess being more than eight months pregnant it seems it'll be a busy one for her, first christening a new crusie ship the Royal Princess, in Southampton on June 13 before co-hosting a gala dinner with her husband Prince William with the couple choosing amongst their charitable organisations those guests to invite.

It also gives the impression that the dinner was supposed to be after the christening.  Well, it's an entertainment site, so they're probably accustomed to exaggerating their news. :P
