Did not Princess Mary Adelaide inherit a lot of money from her father Prince Adolphus?

No, there was very little money in the Cambridge household. Dolly was a younger son of George III and wouldn't have been left a huge amount. He himself left some money to his widow and she did help Mary Adelaide and her family on occasion but she wasn't wealthy herself. And because social custom dictated that males inherited wealth before females Mary's brother George Duke of Cambridge got what was left. Mary Adelaide's family lived on her ?5,000 parliamentary allowance as a British princess. Franz had very little money.
