Danish royals will be scattered for the Christmas Holidays

The Danish Royal Family?s plans for the holidays announced ? Royal Central

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik will remain in Denmark, but the CP Family will head to Australia and Prince Joachim, Princess Marie will head to France with their younger children. Prince Joachim's older sons will be with their mother Alexandra this year.

There have been discussions about this on the Internet with some rushing to judgement about Queen Daisy and Prince Henrik being left alone. However, inlaws matter too, and it's even more vital for Mary as Australia is such a long way away.

Who knows but that Queen Margrethe might not mind a quieter Xmas, a break with Henrik before he slips away from her too much. And Henri might be getting a bit impatient with the children. Who knows.

^^^I agree @Curryong. The entire family might recognize that while Henrik's memory is now impaired, he might be at a point where he's becoming combative and unpredictable.  I expect that Nicolai and Felix might be ready to deal with such a situation, it would be trickier with the youngest members of the family.

It seems that the practice is to alternate between Mary and Marie's homelands so they can see their sisters and their families. It's a reasonable expectation IMHO. I believe that the Dutch royals have a similar arrangement for Maxima's family so they can see the girls in Argentina.
