QuoteThe Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall carried out a day of engagements visiting the West Midlands today.

During the visit to the region, The Prince hailed the "remarkable" work of the Samaritans charity and its "brilliant volunteers" at the Wolverhampton branch in the West Midlands.

Meeting about 70 volunteers, The Prince praised their diligence, recognising that while others would be celebrating with loved ones over Christmas, the Samaritans would be working.

"Have a happy Christmas, as I understand you are on duty then as well," he said.

"It is a remarkable organisation, and the whole thing depends on the brilliant volunteers like yourselves.

"I cannot thank you enough, for what it's worth, for all the effort and dedication that you put in."
