Philip IV (1605-1665) was the son of King Philip III. Philip IV reigned from 1621 to 1665.     
Philip was a fine horseman, a keen hunter, and a devotee of bull-fighting.   
He obtained paintings from across Europe. He had over 4,000 by the time of his demise.

King Philip IV was pious and obsessive about proper decorum. In his final years, he believed he had failed as a monarch.

During the reign of King Philip IV, Spain had to recognize the independence of the United Provinces of the Netherlands at the Peace of Westphalia.
