The British royals with their Belgian royal hosts TM the King and Queen of the Belgians.

If you have  had the opportunity to visit Belgium and Northern France the sight of so many WWI and WWII monuments and military cemeteries can be a bit overwhelming IMHO. Part of our recent trip included time in Normandy so we visited the British, Canadian and US memorials and the US cemetery at Omaha beach. The exhibits were excellent and gave our family a greater appreciation for the sacrifices made by those young men during the Invasion of Normandy in 1944.

Yes, the World War One battlefield cemeteries and memorials are an awe inspiring sight yet dreadfully sad too. It's great that you managed to get to Normandy as well. What a very interesting trip.
