Don't fret that lot will be fine. Worry about the people on the street more.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Poor poor police in the world's major cities, with terrorists, and anti social drunks, ice addicts and the criminally insane running around causing havoc every day.

TLLK

I agree @Curryong. They really are under siege in recent years dealing with more than ever. :(

Thank you for providing the articles @sara8150 for this story and so many others. :friends: With BP's entrance and the nearby parks being popular tourist sites, I can see why this individual chose to carry out his assault there. When we recently visited we were aware that the area is monitored by CC tv, patrolled by the police and that there were military barracks close by. However it was a less obvious public security display than what we saw in Italy the year before where nearly every large tourist site in Florence and Rome was being patrolled by army units with very large assault weapons. The only place in the UK where we saw them on police was in front of the entrance to Number 10 Downing street. I also noticed that the street entrance has been closed off by a very large and secure looking fence/gate. I contrasted that image from the last time I'd visited thirty years ago when that street had two police officers and a pair of wooden saw horses as barriers. During that time the greater threat was from the IRA.

Question for  those living outside the U.S. Are your police typically armed with a service revolver while on patrol? Does your nation rely upon CC tv to monitor public safety and have armed units waiting? (I am aware that police in the UK are typically not armed while on patrol which is very different from the U.S.)

amabel

wel I'm irish and our police are unarmed just as the UK police are unarmed.
