I can't believe that you don't know that there are issues in Northern Ireland regarding the queen as head of state.  So I'm not going to say any more.

kensingtonroyalThis morning Prince Harry and Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon launched a new partnership to improve the mental health of all Armed Forces personnel. The joint initiative between the MOD and The Royal Foundation will see the Royal Foundation provide resources to the MOD to improve training & education around mental health. The training will emphasise the idea that mental fitness is as important as physical fitness when working as part of the Defence community.

Harry does indeed look very dapper, and I'm sure he enjoyed the evening. WellChild is a terrific charity and good on the 100 Women for supporting it this year.

^^^Yes he does look very well in his black tie. Glad to see that 100 Women are continuing to support the various charities that the Cambridges and Harry are supporting. It's almost on a rotation that one of them attends annually.

Harry will be in Chicago on October 31st, participating in the Obama Inaugural Summit. The Obamas invited him and he will be speaking on Youth Leadership.

The boy's doing some travelling this month after the September Canadian IG. Denmark to see Queen Daisy and members of her family on the 25th I think, and then off to Chicago. He and the Obamas seem to get along very well.

^ This is excellent news. Two of my favourite royals meeting, (I wonder whether Daisy will give Harry lunch, even though she will be busy packing for Rome!) Then he meets Joachim the next day, whom I'm sure he will get on with, and he will see some old comrades from the IG. Harry has an excellent memory for faces apparently and so there will be a happy reunion. I wouldn't be surprised either if Crown Prss Mary didn't make time in her schedule over the two days to meet Harry privately. She has a soft spot for the BRF I think.

Future Engagements:
PRINCE HARRY WILL VISIT LANCASHIRE

Monday 23rd October 2017

Prince Harry will visit Lancashire for a day of engagements on Monday 23rd October 2017. The visit will allow His Royal Highness to explore local projects in three areas that are priorities for his work: veterans, conservation, and the use of sport to drive positive social change. Prince Harry will also return to a village that he visited following the floods that affected the region in late 2015.

His Royal Highness will begin the day with a visit to Veterans UK in Norcross, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Veterans UK Helpline Service. Established in 1992, the 24/7 national helpline provides welfare support for veterans and their families, working in partnership with Combat Stress and the Samaritans. Part of the Ministry of Defence, Veterans UK also administers the pension and compensation schemes for those injured or bereaved through service in the Armed Forces.

During the visit, Prince Harry will tour the facility to meet staff and welfare officers, alongside veterans and families who benefit from the range of support services. Upon departure, His Royal Highness will unveil a plaque at the front of the building.

Prince Harry will then travel to St Michael’s on Wyre, in follow up to his visit to the flood affected village in February 2016. Around 1700 businesses and homes were damaged across the Lancashire district in the lead up to New Year in 2016. His Royal Highness will visit a residence and meet members of the community to learn about the recovery that has been achieved by the local people. Prince Harry will officially reopen the village hall at a reception attended by those who played a crucial role in response to the flooding crisis.

In the afternoon, His Royal Highness will visit Myplace at Brockholes Nature Reserve, a project which aims to empower young people by encouraging them to take action in environmental activity to improve areas for wildlife, communities and their own wellbeing. Upon arrival, Prince Harry will receive a briefing on the project, a partnership between Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, and visit the woodland where young people will be participating in conservation and bush craft activities.

Finally, Prince Harry will travel to UCLan Sports Arena to visit the Sir Tom Finney Soccer Development Centre and the Lancashire Bombers Wheelchair Basketball Club – two community organisations using the power of sport as a means for social development and inclusion.

During the visit, His Royal Highness will meet a diverse group of people of all ages and abilities who participate in training sessions and local leagues together, with a view to building new and unique friendships. Both organisations are involved with Sported, the sport development charity with which Prince Harry has an existing connection.

PRINCE HARRY TO VISIT COPENHAGEN: UPDATE

Prince Harry will undertake a two-day visit to Copenhagen, Denmark, on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th October. This visit is at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

This will be His Royal Highness’s first official visit to Denmark, and Prince Harry is looking forward to meeting the people of Copenhagen. In particular he will spend time with young Danes making a real difference in fields including business, sports and social development, and His Royal Highness will have an opportunity to meet veterans including the recently returned Danish Invictus Games team.

On arrival in Copenhagen, in the early afternoon of 25th October, Prince Harry will visit Amalienborg for an audience with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

After this, His Royal Highness will travel across the city to KPH Projects. Based in a regenerated area of Copenhagen, this organisation acts as a community for innovative start-ups and small growing businesses, which all have a shared focus to improve society by working with social, cultural or environmental objectives. Each business supports and collaborates with one another across a huge variety of sectors and while here Prince Harry will meet with the KPH founders, and entrepreneurs.

Nearby are the headquarters of GAME, an NGO with a mission to create lasting social change through youth-led street sports and culture, which Prince Harry will visit. He will meet young volunteers known as ‘Playmakers’ who are encouraged to take a role as peer educators, and leaders of activities for youth including those from less advantaged neighbourhoods.

His Royal Highness will hear about these programmes and view activities including basketball, parkour, and dance classes, before hearing from young people for whom GAME has become an important part of their lives.

That evening His Royal Highness will attend a reception hosted by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Denmark at the famous Tivoli Gardens. Located in central Copenhagen, Tivoli is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks, first opening in 1843. Prince Harry will meet a selection of Danish figures from the worlds of sport, business, politics, arts and culture at this event, which will close the day’s engagements.

On Thursday morning His Royal Highness will start the day with a visit to a Danish bakery, where he will meet with volunteers and service users from a nationwide campaign designed to improve attitudes towards mental health. The ‘One of Us’ programme builds awareness of mental health while simultaneously reducing the stigma associated with it, and been successfully rolled out across schools, workplaces and elsewhere in Denmark.

The second engagement of the day, just outside the city centre, where Prince Harry will be joined by Prince Joachim, will see Their Royal Highnesses visiting a project which supports veterans of the Danish Armed Forces. Prince Harry will learn about the origins of the initiative which uses sports and teamwork to help rehabilitate wounded soldiers and watch demonstrations of the most popular activities. The event will conclude with a reception attended by some of the recently returned Invictus Games competitors who have also benefitted from this project.

His Royal Highness’s last stop of the day will be Ørestad Gymnasium, which is part of a global network of changemaker schools, with partners in the UK. Prince Harry will join the school as it holds a conference on the importance of 'Making a Difference’, and His Royal Highness will join individual sessions and workshops to hear from young people sharing ideas and best practices related to solving issues facing their generation.

PRINCE HARRY TO VISIT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

Prince Harry will attend the inaugural Summit of the Obama Foundation on Tuesday 31st October in Chicago, Illinois.

His Royal Highness will attend the Summit at the invitation of former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. During the event Prince Harry will take part in a conversation about ways to support and encourage youth leadership to tackle both local and global challenges.

The Prince will use the conversation in part to highlight the success of the Full Effect project he established in St. Anne’s, Nottingham, that is supported by the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

ROYAL ATTENDANCE AT ENGAGEMENTS TO MARK REMEMBRANCE

The Queen and members of the royal family will attend the following engagements to mark Remembrance in 2017:

Thursday 9th November

Prince Harry will visit the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.

Saturday 11th November

The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will attend the Menin Gate ceremony at Ypres, Belgium and will then visit Tyne Cot and Bedford House, Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemeteries.

The Queen and members of the royal family will attend the annual Royal Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

Sunday 12th November

The Queen and members of the royal family will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

For the first time, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will view the ceremony from the balcony of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office building. At Her Majesty’s request, a wreath will be laid on her behalf by the Prince of Wales. An equerry will lay the Duke of Edinburgh’s wreath.

The Earl of Wessex will later take the salute at the march-past of veteran and civilian organisations on Horse Guards Parade.

The recent terrible weather lashed Wales and the North West of England as well. I hope this village, having now recovered, doesn't get another dose. I'm sure Harry will enjoy his varied engagements in Lancashire. He's been very busy just lately as has William, a sign that the younger royals are stepping up to the plate at long last. He's visiting Blackpool, too, the pleasure dome of the north of England. It's a pity he can't ride on some of the attractions there. He'd love it!

Of course, as well as the remarkable village of St Michael's on the Wyre, Harry will be visiting one of his beloved vets' causes as well in the form of Veterans Helpline services Norcross. He's really made veterans concerns part of his public persona, and I'm glad to see it's something he's strongly identified with.

Harry is in Chicago for the Inaugural Summit of the Obama Foundation. He will speak on troubled and disadvantaged Youth in the UK and some of the programmes he is involved in there to help. Here's a clip of a Q and A he took part in on stage with Mellody Hobson before he makes his speech. Lots of compliments on social media.

Well its great to hear Harry talk fondly about Diana, and scold her treatment by "The Institution" hint hint, BUT.....I am a bit surprised that the palace would have him talk at such an event. I know, youre going to say hes friends of the Obamas and im sure thats true.

However, after the Clinton Foundation scandals, and the fact that Obama has said hes going to stay involved in politics and has a compound now not far from the white house to help the so called "Resistance", I would think the potential for the Obama Foundation to act in the same pay for play that the Clinton Foundation did exists, and like shades of his mother and father, its putting him into a political area the royals arent meant to get into, and may necessitate an awkward backpedal years from now.

I dont know if its helpful "innocence" like his Mum, or a black spiderish desire to make his views known like his Dad, but to me, theres little for him to gain and more potential to lose the tremendous goodwill hes built over the last few years. I wonder if the desire to pop over to Toronto for a visit with the GF trumped his better judgement. Just my 2 cents, but the Clintons have ruined Presidential Foundations for the next 20 years.
"No other member of the Royal Family mattered that year, or I think for the next 17 years, it was just her." Arthur Edwards, The Sun Photographer, talking about Diana's impact.

Prince Harry thanks media in speech about mental health – Royal Central

While attending the Virgin Money Giving Mind Media Awards, Prince Harry did something most would never even dreamed of- he thanked the media.

The prince who is often very wary of the media, surprised everyone when he thanked them for getting on board with ending the stigma surrounding mental health and helping to spread the word.

Speaking to the crowd at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, the fifth-in-line to the throne said: “I wanted to come here tonight to say thank you,

“At the beginning of the year, William, Catherine and I believed that the country was on the cusp of something special.

“We noticed that after decades of hard work from dedicated campaigners, people seemed ready for a different kind of conversation on mental health.

“Everyone was tired of stigma and scare stories around mental illness. And they were frustrated that it was always being written up in a negative way.

“They saw that their children were emotionally open in new ways that seemed positive and empowering.

“Finally, we were all beginning to grasp that mental fitness was an issue worth talking about, for every one of us.”

Yes, Richard Palmer wrote, on a rather sarcastic note, 'Prince Harry thanked the media. That's something I don't write very often.' Nevertheless, I'm sure the media has played its part in getting a very important message across which 'Heads Together' has been emphasising all year, viz if you feel that you are alone and can't cope then reach out for help.

Also, Harry looked very much like his mum in one photo on this engagement, something that doesn't happen very often as he pretty well has Windsor/Mountbatten features. However, I saw Diana beaming out there. He's looking very happy of late which is good to see.

This is a fantastic engagement. Harry loves going back to his alma mater, I'm sure. He's done this before I think. I wish Harry would go to see the Old Chelsea Pensioners again. He had such rapport with them.
