QuoteAndrew, who has pledged to "focus on his work" after sex claims in the US, was at Yeovilton, Somerset, to make Lieutenant Danielle Welch the first – and last – woman to train as a Lynx helicopter pilot.  Lieut Welch, 30, who trained for more than five years, said: "This is something I have been trying to achieve for most of my life."

No other woman will ever train to pilot a Lynx Mk 8 from start to finish because it is due to be replaced in 2017 with the Wildcat.

Andrew, who presented five others with their wings, served as a Royal Navy pilot himself for more than 20 years.

He said: "I don't think people realise the amount of hard work those who have received their wings today have put in."
