^^ The dinner was held the night before the christening.  There were about 300 attendees, and they all spent the night on the ship after the dinner, then attended the christening the next day.  It's reported in one of the articles above, but I don't remember which one.

The 300 attendees must have had the dinner and slept aboard the ship the night before, because the ship left for Barcelona the day of the naming ceremony, after Kate's tour.

Kate flew in by helicopter right before the actual naming ceremony, then according to other articles, arrived at the ship by chauffeur-driven limousine. So, it sounds like Kate did not attend that dinner - only those 300 people from the charities ate that dinner and slept aboard the ship. (And I guess those teachers did not rub elbows with Kate at the dinner, as another article before the event claimed.)

We cannot trust these tabloids - they claim all kinds of things are going to happen, then they don't. They are constantly distorting the truth.

I remember another tabloid article claiming William was going to be at that shipboard dinner with Kate, but he was photographed taking the train from Anglessey to London on Wednesday, so was nowhere near Southampton for that dinner on Tuesday night.

QuoteKate, who is due to give birth in a month's time flew by helicopter to Southampton to attend a colourful naming ceremony for Royal Princess, a new 141,000-tonne cruise liner at the city's Ocean Terminal...
.....

Among the guests at the ceremony were 300 people from three royal charities supported by Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry - East Anglia's Children's Hospices, SkillForce, and WellChild who stayed overnight on the ship.

William was never intended to be at the dinner, he only helped choose the invitees.

Thank you for the article, Candyflower. Your article states that the ship is not leaving till Sunday. I guess I was misinformed by a different article. It looks like Sunday, June 16 is probably the correct departure date.

There was an article dated June 7 that claimed that William and Kate were going to co-host this gala dinner:

QuoteDespite the Duchess being more than eight months pregnant it seems it'll be a busy one for her, first christening a new crusie ship the Royal Princess, in Southampton on June 13 before co-hosting a gala dinner with her husband Prince William with the couple choosing amongst their charitable organisations those guests to invite.

It also gives the impression that the dinner was supposed to be after the christening.  Well, it's an entertainment site, so they're probably accustomed to exaggerating their news. :P

QuoteDuchess Of Cambridge To Host Lavish Gala Before Beginning Maternity Leave

Despite the Duchess being more than eight months pregnant it seems it'll be a busy one for her, first christening a new crusie ship the Royal Princess, in Southampton on June 13 before co-hosting a gala dinner with her husband Prince William with the couple choosing amongst their charitable organisations those guests to invite.

Speaking of their excitement of having the Duchess name their latest liner Princess Cruises' president Alan Buckelew said: "It is a great honour for Princess Cruises that Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge has accepted our invitation to become the Godmother to Royal Princess."  "We are delighted that the Duchess will launch our new ship and can think of no better way to celebrate our company's British heritage and our commitment to the country."

Co-headteachers, Danuta Tomasz and Dave Flowitt of Goole High School near Hull, are amongst two of the guests invited along to the gala dinner. Charity SkillForce, of which Prince William supports, chose the school to represent them at the event after receiving an invitation from the future monarch.

It seems we all can make mistakes in trusting articles that prove themselves later to be untrustworthy.

LOL ... Never assume that because I post an article, I agree with it or believe it. :hehe:

About the ship:  Royal Princess is about the size of a Nimitz class nuclear aircraft carrier - with much better accomodations.   :happy15:
