QuoteWith Sarah, Duchess of York already a regular face at high society soirées on both sides of the Atlantic, it is perhaps a natural step that she now hopes to carve out a career in the events industry.

Mandrake can disclose that Fergie is the director of a new company called S.Phoenix Events Limited. The business, which was set up at the end of May, is not trading yet but is expected to file accounts in February.

While the Duchess's spokesman declines to comment on the exact nature of Fergie's new business venture, the company is registered to an office of the accountancy firm Tax Innovations in Hampshire.

The new career move comes after the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie has struggled to bring in a regular income since her divorce from the Duke of York in 1996.

Oh no! Just what we need, Fergie going into the events sector!

ya know - Fergie has not struggled to make a good income - she has in fact made a very good income - she just blows it all away.  She has had a number of successful ventures - her weight watchers career earned her millions - her children's books sold well and she has had two TV series which probably earned her plenty although they were excruciating to watch

If she was not a compulsive spender she would be doing very well now

Last we heard she was lending her name to a herbal tea  - so now she is starting a publically traded events company?  Not sure I'd invest but I'm sure she'll use her contacts to get jobs

Yes, Sarah has many good ponts I'm sure. She's friendly and gregarious, if a bit delusional about her past behaviour, and people warm to her. It's just, as you say, she doesn't seem to know the value of money or of squirrelling some cash away for a rainy day. Fergie seems to thrive and then everything goes pearshaped and she has to start all over again. She was supposed to have shed that retinue who travelled everywhere with her. I wonder how long it will take in this latest venture before hangers-on appear again.
