Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1879-1952) was the Queen Consort of King Christian X of Denmark.
Queen Alexandrine helped the Dowager Duchess of Coburg to keep in contact with her daughters, Grand Duchess Victoria of Russia and Queen Marie of Romania during the First World War.

Yes, the Scandinavian royals were a great help in that regard throughout the First World War. Margreit of Sweden, daughter of Arthur, Duke of Connaught, performed a similar 'post office' role in Sweden.

In 1937 Queen Alexandrine went with her husband on an official visit to Germany. The Queen travelled with King Christian X to Berlin. She was not present at the official meeting with German chancellor Adolf Hitler. Instead Alexandrine went to the Cecilienhof Castle to visit her sister Crown Princess Cecilie and her brother-in-law Crown Prince Wilhelm.

Christian X's first love was Princess Marguerite of Orleans, sister of Princess Waldemar of Denmark. She turned him down after some years of keeping him waiting.

During the Second World War, Queen Alexandrine was able to save the Danish royal jewel collection from Nazi looters by hiding it in churches and even farmhouses.

Queen Alexandrine could choose to travel unofficially to visit different parts of Denmark. She often travelled to Aarhus on unofficial visits to Marselisborg Castle.
