Not sure that the pony was happy to have visitors today. He nearly bit Harry! Harry is clearly a seasoned  horse veteran too so the pony must have just have been irritable.  :orchid:  :eyes: Meghan wisely keeps a bit of distance between herself and the mascot. Good choice of clothing.
Slacks, pants were too long, needed hemming.
Hair, ok.  Needs hair spray , gel, etc for these things to hold her hair in place. Remember the days of amateur and all that hair...f,Yong around and with her always playing with her hair.

It seems that she did well on this occasion.

MM,  the comments are and will be awful about her until.... hopefully not forever.

MM is the best thing to ever happen to Camilla and Kate. They can do no wrong.

Lord lord, it is sad. The hatred for this girl for no good, real reason is dangerous  and sad.

That is putting everyone in a basket,  there are many commentators that according to their POV have their reasons to dislike her.  Its just an opinion, like if it will make MM change.  I have read the "hatred" for no good reason comments also, but that is a minority.

QuoteHarry and Meghan have undertaken four engagements around the UK but including her appearance at the @EndeavourFund awards, today marks her 5th official engagement.

She already shows she will be a worker & Meghan isn't even married into the BRF yet.

This shows Kate not working all those years was by choice & not because of the Queen.

H&M will very like do  more than 7 (according to Cepe that was W&K number, considering they were living in Anglesey due to William's RAF job) engagements pre-wedding as he is unemployed unlike his brother during his engagement.

Oh yes the RAF excuse. Anglesey being located so far out of the UK that it prevented Kate from working or the one where the Queen wanting them to pretend they were in Malta as she was once.   :teehee:

Post by: wannable on February 13, 2018, 09:39:26 PM
Yes, he had a Job, Harry is not employed nor living unemployed in another city, hence the expectations are that he and Meghan have no excuse.

Is it fair? Yes its fair as William had a job to fall back to (the excuse), Harry does not, in consequence Meghan (only IF she gets pregnant and IF there are complications officially stated by KP)

The polls indicated in a landslide number they liked very much that William had a Job; RAF, later EAAA.

It is still to be seen.  So far the H&M duo, who aren't employed have carried out 5 official engagements.  If they do 7, expect the DM to write them off as lazy, if they do more than 7 the DM will say they needed to double that number to 14 and will compare and contrast that Wiliam was at the RAF (saving lives).

Right Rebecca English? yes!  :happy17:

Harry is a full time royal which is his JOB. William would show up at his pretend jobs to get out of doing his royal duties. You know the duties he was born to perform, that he has known about since a young age.

How does William pretending to have a job mean Kate also doesn't have to work as a royal. Today in most marriages both men & women work.

She chased that title for a decade & should have been prepared to work starting right after the Honeymoon. Just silly excuses are all they have done for another decade. What a waste.
Title: Re: Prince Harry and Meghan visit Edinburgh on February 13
Post by: wannable on February 13, 2018, 10:00:00 PM
Harry's numbers are too weak as his full time royal job. More than half a year doing nothing. His 2017 mark should have been close to the POW and his siblings as that is their only job.   William until summer 2017 had the EAAA job (the excuse! and YouGov U.K. pollsters loved him for that. )

Meghan Markle throws off royal protocol to hug charity worker who gave her this amazing compliment - Mirror Online (https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/meghan-markle-throws-royal-protocol-12022219)
Quote
Protocol dictates that royals don't generally hug members of the public.

But Prince Harry's fiancee Meghan Markle has shown time and again she is going to shake things up.

And today was no exception when she broke tradition by sharing a warm embrace with charity co-founder Alice Thompson during her visit to Edinburgh.

The Queen must have told Harry "I will break all protocol's for your Bride if you marry one that can help the Monarchy recover from your Lazy Brother & his wife Kate".

In the last decade or so when members of the British royal family leave one activity ie military service or another career to begin full time royal duties, there is typically an announcement made to the public. We saw this occur with the Wessexes and the Cambridges. At the time of Prince Harry's retirement from the army, he did not state that he was beginning full time royal duties. He did say that he would be involved with volunteer work in addition to his current patronages.  I do expect that there will be another announcement in the coming months to clarify what Harry and Meghan plans regarding their royal duties. Until then I wouldn't state that anything is for certain.

One can't really expect an American to know how a Monarchy works but she will catch onto all of it. Whether that is good or bad I shall reserve judgement.

QuoteAt the time of Prince Harry's retirement from the army, he did not state that he was beginning full time royal duties. Until then I wouldn't state that anything is for certain.

Harry is already doing more than William so an announcement stating something specific means nothing. William announced long ago that he would be a full time working royal & his engagement count went down. And I am stating that with certainty.

@SophieChloe-  You can read about William's engagements from last week in William and Kate engagements part 2.

In other words, Harry is doing nothing, watching rugby, playing ar Monaco, killing wild boar.  William is working.

One can't really expect an American to know how a Monarchy works but she will catch onto all of it. Whether that is good or bad I shall reserve judgement.

Harry is already doing more than William so an announcement stating something specific means nothing. William announced long ago that he would be a full time working royal & his engagement count went down. And I am stating that with certainty.

William juggled two jobs and fatherhood, Harry is lazy.

All being a Grandma means is you have a Grandchild.

Carole has been training Kate for years to produce an heir & spare or at the very least how to stalk & bag a Prince. To bad for Carole she will be gone before George reaches the Throne.

This video is from a bit later on, inside Holyrood House, which is good as this historic Scottish palace somehow doesn't get shown very often. Meghan has gotten over shaking hands before Harry and darting ahead. They met Nicola Sturgeon and some Scottish youth.

Holyrood is wonderful but I went in the summer. Don't know what the heating is like in the wintertime!

I cannot imagine how chilly it must be. Hopefully there will be a cozy place for them to stay tonight. As for Meghan, I've seen every royal "break" protocol at some time or another, so I believe that she's going to be just fine.

That's what she sacrificed her daughter for.  I could almost feel sorry for Kate.  Joan Crawford has nothing on Mommie Dearest.

Meghan being an American it can be expected. Kate has always broken protocol rules yet she is British. I guess she is a very, very slow learner.

^^ She sacrificed Kate to William.  Kate earned that title.  Not the "Duchess" one, but the "Waity" one.

However, back to the Fantastic Duo that is Harry & Meghan.  Cheers!

I disagree. I wouldn't say that he's lazy, but as a member of the "grandchild generation" he's not going to be required to do as much as the heir to the throne/spouse and the Queen's other children and their spouses. IMHO we often forget that Charles, Anne, Andrew, Edward and their spouses were not as busy with their royal engagements early on. It's taken them decades to build up their patronages, to take on military appointments and begin to undertake royal tours on behalf of the monarch. Before the Queen's children began full time royal duties it was QEII, Doe, QEQM, Princess Margaret, the Gloucesters and Kents who were enlisted to take on those activities.
Also the BRF wasn't even performing as many engagements in the 80s and 90s as they are today. Those numbers really started to climb in the 2000s and 2010's.

In time even QEII will not being as active as she is now and we'll see the PoW, DoC, the Cambridges, Harry/Meghan and Charles' siblings taking on more as QEII's elderly cousins begin to reduce their workload. It's to be expected.  :)

So Kate is not a stepford.

At age 36 Meghan should know how to dress,  today she was sweeping the grounds and in stiletto.

Other then, these tours are  fluffy, wave, smile, shake hands, nothing the other royals been there done that.

Harry is about to enter the 3 year mark since leaving the military. Most of his little engagements he has done since have been fluffy, vacationships to Africa, taking away jobs from real Rhino specialists, traveling for picture taking with Chris Jackson lifting a Sentebale brick for 3 seconds. He did not go to the Sentebale Christmas Carole for staffers, which lasted 1 hour of his time, did not go to Heads Together training meeting, 2 hours of his time...whilst his brother and SIL had just arrived from the Scandinavian tour.

Too much excuses for unemployed Harry.

Which leads me to think that Harry's not yet "full time" like his brother and sister-in-law who moved on to the full time roster at the same time that Prince Phillip left it. IMVHO there might not be the funds to cover transportation and other costs related to warrant the another pair on that list.  At this point in time that would include, QEII, PoW, DoC, Cambridges, DoY, Wessexes, PR, Gloucesters, DoK and PA. That's thirteen full timers spanning three generations which make up Europe's largest group of full time working royals. Can they afford to add two more? I just don't know at this point in time.

A clue: there kids are full time at London schools.

No I'm not joking @SophieChloe. With three generations of family members working on behalf of the monarch, this is a much larger group than is typically involved when compared to other royal families. I do not think it is a mere coincidence that the DoE retires at the same time that the Cambridges become full time and make London their new base. Funds have to available to cover transportation and staff required for this large group so I'm not sure that we can categorically state that Harry is "full time" now. Charles has to assist in covering the costs for his, Camilla's, the Cambridges' and Harry's royal duties so this is an additional expense that he didn't have prio. Also  two of the DoE's staffers and there has been a shuffle in other staff who have now been moved to KP to assist there so there is shifting behind the scenes for those who work for the BRF.

Once they announce that they are full time it doesn't mean they must actually work doing engagements but that the announcement has been made so they can be praised for it.

An informal but reliable tally that I've read recently on a very large royal forum has Harry having conducted 12 engagements since the beginning of 2018 up to  2/9/18.  ( Please note that It doesn't include today's activities in Edinburgh.) Harry's numbers are likely to increase this year, but I'm not sure that he's full time as of yet.

WATCH: Meghan Markle Speaks Filipino During Royal Tour in Edinburgh | T&C Ph (https://www.townandcountry.ph/people/heritage/watch-meghan-markle-speaks-filipino-during-royal-tour-in-edinburgh)

QuoteLast week, a video of Meghan Markle was posted by Jenny Ulay on Facebook, showing Markle greeting Filipino fans in the vernacular. The video was reuploaded by Malcolm S Conlan and has since gone viral. This took place during the official royal tour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel to Edinburgh, Scotland, where they visited Edinburgh Castle; Social Bite, an organization focused on ending homelessness throughout Scotland; and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Of course, the royal couple also mingled with fans who greeted them on the streets, including several Filipinos.

The video showed the surprised fans after Markle greeted them in Filipino, saying ?Salamat po! (Thank you).?
