Just saw this on BBC, thanks so much for posting it here, @sara1981

I have to give Kate props on this one... an heir and a spare are expected, but to go forward and have a 3rd child at her age and with her history of HG really speaks to her tenacity as a person.

Now before anyone freaks out, Kate is a year older than me, and age was a huge consideration when I decided to be done at 2 (following on the heels of "I only want 2", and "I do NOT want to have a 3rd c-section"). So yes, I stand by my opinion that 35 is a bit old to have another baby, even though I fully understand it is biologically possible, and becoming more common. :)

^ That date surprises me, actually. I would have plumped for April myself, especially as Kate was seen drinking alcohol on the Polish visit only a few weeks ago. (When I was pregnant with all three of my children, having a drink or two in early pregnancy wasn't so frowned on and I can remember having a glass of champers at the hairdressers for Xmas and wine at a wedding on a couple of occasions, though I certainly have never been a regular drinker.) Unless you don't know you're pregnant having alcohol is kind of frowned on now, and Kate must have known at that time that there was a possibility.

It looks like it's going to be a very busy Spring/Summer 2018 for royal watchers. New baby and christening, wedding for Harry and Meghan. Better get the fascinators ready!

It was a sweet and rather funny gesture by the boy but for me avacado would make me feel worse not better if I had terrible HG/morning sickness, as I can't stand the stuff. My mother in law used to lather it inches high onto rye bread as a favourite open sandwich, giving me the shudders!

Morning sickness is a dreadful thing, let alone HG, and I'm thankful that I never suffered very much with it. I doubt that Kate's keeping anything much down at the moment. Anything buttered used to set my younger daughter off. Cravings at this time are funny things though. Everyone who's been pregnant has had those I think!

That's awful @Blue Clover. I would imagine that Kate's OB/GYN has recommended many foods that might work, but she's likely receiving her nutrition and fluids intravenously at this point so I doubt that anything would taste good now. This is her third trip to this rodeo, so if they were able to provide in home care then it's better than a hospital IMO. Hospitalization would be unnecessary if they've worked out a way to treat her and it keeps beds free for other patients.

Kate's HG issues have come during her first trimester and has typically ended in her second. As for the vomiting-up to 60 times a day with some women, her OB/GYN had her hospitalized for her first pregnancy and then treated at home for her second and third ones. The main concern with women suffering from HG is fluid loss, so often times they'll have a pic line inserted to receive IV fluids. Once the vomiting/nausea subsides, then they can resume their normal activities if their OB/GYN believes they're ready to do so. :)

She's added some new pieces like the ice blue evening dress for the Royal Variety Performance but reused others like the Seraphine coat. The only one I didn't really like was the light blue lace dress with the black ribbon detail.

Duchess Kate reveals home-birth plans, 'I want to have my next at home' | Royal | News | Express.co.uk (https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/907596/Kate-Middleton-next-child-home-birth-hospital-Kensington-Palace-Anmer-Hall)

QuoteTHE Duchess of Cambridge wants to have her third baby at home after the hospital births of her first two, George and Charlotte. Pregnant Kate has told friends that she would ?love? to have her next child either at Kensington Palace or Anmer Hall, her home with Prince William on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Although she has suffered badly from hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme form of morning sickness during her pregnancies, the actual births have been straightforward and problem free.

?Catherine has said she would love to have her baby at home,? said a royal source in London.

?She has discussed it with William and he is being very supportive. They both think it would be lovely for the family to have a home birth, particularly for George and Charlotte.

?Above all they both agree that having a home birth would save a massive intrusion into the day to day running of any hospital where she gave birth.

It used to be the case that royal ladies gave birth at home, with the best medical attention....so maybe she is considering a home birth.

@amabel-Yes I am aware that most of them did give birth at home, but since the late 1970's it appears that most of them have been happening at St. Mary's hospital. Kate's births appear to have gone rather quickly and easily so I believe that she could be a good candidate for a home birth, but her ob/gyn might be more comfortable if this occurred at a hospital.

We have wait and see if Kate successfully to birth at home or birth at hospital like George and Charlotte i cant judge Kate what she wanted for her needs options midwives or doctors if Kate been longer labor at home and fails to birth at home ahead baby born at st mary?s Hospital but press and paparazzi will camping same George and Charlotte when baby born and before leave hospital get pictures in magazines and newspapers show the world and UK also show off as debut after baby born per William and Kate will show the baby after born..

If Kate breaking tradition to born at home same Queen born three sons include Charles,Andrew,Edward at Buckingham Palace and Anne at Clarence House if HM Queen have approval to home birth or hospital options..

Loathe loathe loathe the name Albert. And as I've said before I can't see the Cambridges giving a name that is going to make the child stick out like a sore thumb among their contemporaries, especially when young.

Arthur is a possibility but I don't really care for it myself. I'd prefer Alexander to be used again, as a forename this time, or Philip, (or James, in spite of the Wessex's son.) It's always more difficult with boys names in the BRF as they are always guarding the same little store of a half a dozen names, most of them in use. I do think this child is a boy.

Mary is a meh name to me. Don't mind Adelaide, Alice, Victoria or Alexandra. None of those have been used for a while. There would be two princesses Alexandra if the last was chosen but one of them is over eighty years old, so no confusion!

Royal baby: Kate Middleton and Prince William baby due St George's day | Royal | News | Express.co.uk (https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/927167/Royal-baby-kate-middleton-prince-william-st-george-s-day-prince-harry-meghan-markle-news)

QuoteThe Duchess of Cambridge is due to have her third child on the feast day of St George on Monday, April 23.

A royal source said: ?There's no certainty with due dates of course but the Duchess is working off a date around St George?s Day and it would be a lovely patriotic coincidence if he or she were born then.

?The one thing that is certain though, if it?s a boy he won?t be called George! Prince George has already taken that one.

?Or if she?s very late, as she was with George?s birth, she could even make it a very special wedding anniversary present to William, as they celebrate seven years of marriage on the 29th April.?

This pregnancy has made Kate bloat up, suffer water retention, swollen ankles etc, and she's had a very noticeable bump from six months onwards. None of that was apparent with George/Charlotte. I have to say I shall be surprised if the baby arrives in late April, but I could be wrong, and frequently am!

QuoteThe online newspaper, Metro UK, reported that the Duchess of Cornwall is pregnant with her third child this morning.

The headline was made in error and was posted on their official Twitter account.

The tweet was soon deleted, but not before it came to the attention of her son, Tom Parker Bowles, who tweeted: ?Dear God. Really??

Users of social media rushed to congratulate Mr Parker Bowles, including comedian Dom Joly who said: ?Congratulations on your impending sibling. Must have been a surprise??

The Duchess of Cornwall has two children, Tom and Laura.

Of course, Metro meant to tweet that the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her third child next month.

Duchess of Cambridge Royal birth: Bizarre traditions revealed including who must attend
Duchess of Cambridge Royal birth: Bizarre traditions revealed including who must attend | Royal | News | Express.co.uk (https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/928746/Duchess-of-Cambridge-Royal-birth-bizarre-traditions-who-must-attend-first-informed)

Good rules but must informed to HM Queen after baby born and also cant says surname will called prince or princess Cambridge names ?its old wives tales pregnant rules!!?

Quote

Former traditions:
1. Home secretaries attended royal births until the custom was abolished in 1948, ahead of the birth of Prince Charles.

The last time a home secretary attended a royal birth was in 1936 for the birth of Princess Alexandra, the Queen?s cousin.

Home Secretary Sir William Joynson-Hicks attended the Queen?s birth in 1926, and reportedly conveyed the message of her birth to the Lord Mayor of London by special messenger.

2. The Archbishop of Canterbury previously attended royal births.

3. 42 eminent public figures were reportedly present to verify the birth of King James II?s son James Francis Edward in 1688 at St James?s Palace.

Current traditions:
1. The Queen must be the first to be informed of a royal birth.

The news of the birth cannot be announced to the public until the Monarch has been informed.

Prince William reportedly phoned the Queen on an encrypted phone when Prince George and Princess Charlotte were born.

2. Home births were previously the norm:

Queen Elizabeth delivered all four of her children in royal residences. Royal births have however since been modernised, with Diana, Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Cambridge delivering their children in the private Lindo Wing at London?s St Mary?s Hospital.

3. Fathers were not present for the delivery:
Childbirth was considered a female-only event, and male royals were expected to steer clear of the delivery room. Prince Philip reportedly played squash during the birth of Prince Charles. Attitudes have relaxed somewhat in the intervening years.

4. A town crier announces the birth:

A town crier announces a royal birth to crowds and the media waiting outside the hospital. This is a tradition which dates back to the Medieval ages, when town criers were a key source of information for illiterate townspeople.

5. A notice of the birth is posted outside Buckingham Palace:

Buckingham Palace places a framed notification of the birth outside Buckingham Palace, announcing the gender of the baby and the time of the birth.

6. Royal children aren?t given surnames:

Despite receiving at least three first names, royal children do not receive a last name. Prince George is instead called ?George Cambridge?.

7. Midwives are sworn to secrecy:

The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly had at least three midwives present during the birth of Princess Charlotte.

Royal midwives are however not allowed to disclose any information surrounding the births.

Kate Middleton's severe morning sickness may be down to two genes | Daily Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-5527253/Kate-Middletons-severe-morning-sickness-two-genes.html)

QuoteThe severe morning sickness experienced by Kate Middleton in all three of her pregnancies may be down to two genes, rather than soaring pregnancy hormones, new research suggests.

Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which is a leading cause of hospitalisation in pregnancy, is associated with abnormally high variations in the genes GDF15 and IGFBP7, a study found.

Lead author Dr Marlena Fejzo, from The University of California, Los Angeles, who lost a pregnancy due to so-called 'morning, noon and night sickness' in 1999, said: 'It has long been assumed that pregnancy hormones were the likely culprits of extreme nausea and vomiting, but our study found no evidence to support this.'

GDF15 and IGFBP7 play an important role in placenta development and early pregnancy, as well as being linked to the muscle-wasting disease cachexia, which has similar symptoms to severe morning sickness.

Dr Fejzo said: 'It is my hope that one day a medication that affects this pathway will be used to successfully treat and possibly cure hyperemesis gravidarum.'

Severe morning sickness ? known as HG ? can leave women starving - The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/severe-morning-sickness--known-as-hg--can-leave-women-starving/2017/03/10/2ebbdaa4-ecad-11e6-9662-6eedf1627882_story.html?utm_term=.aa9cdcb38f5f)

QuoteMarlena Fejzo, a researcher with the University of Southern California and UCLA, had HG so severe that it led to the loss of the baby, inspiring her to want to learn more about the disease through genetic research.

?There?s something in your body that?s coding to do something wrong,? Fejzo says. ?Looking at genes is an unbiased approach.?

I think it's a boy. Just a feeling though. There are so many old wives tales/customs; the way a woman is carrying being just one of them. I want a boy because, although George will be a bit old to be a companion to this baby as a child, it will be good for him to have a brother. He has a sister and is surrounded by girl second cousins. (I wouldn't be at all surprised actually at Zara having another girl.)

I have the same feeling @Curryong that this will be a boy. I also agree it would be nice for George to have another boy to play with considering that most of QEII's great-grandchildren have been girls.

Yes, judging by Charlotte's arrival time of around noon when Kate was admitted at around the same time (6am) it shouldn't be too long before we hear something, if things follow a similar course, that is.

Do you think labor was induced to have the baby on St. George's Day?
Title: Re: Louis General Chat
Post by: Curryong on April 23, 2018, 02:13:28 PM
Maybe, but Royal correspondents worked out some time ago that the birth was probably going to be later in this month than a lot of us expected, based on times between the announcement of the pregnancies and the actual births of George and Charlotte (who were both a wee bit late) plus the last date of her public engagements.

I think in hindsight this birth was always going to be towards the end of April. Some of us got bamboozled into thinking otherwise because in March Kate appeared to be carrying a very large bump quite low, something that's sometimes indicative of an imminent birth.

Better than calling him "Charles." IMO.  There are not too many names to go around. Some are already taken: Michael (Prince Michael of Kent), Richard (Richard, Duke of Gloucester),  James (William's cousin), Andrew, Edward. I could see possible names as: Frederick, Alexander, Louis, Albert. I don't like the name Arthur so I have it off the list. John probably could be more a middle name choice.

Quotegood for her!! you only get one go round in life, even as a royal, keep working that long game

With George and Charlotte, she made her first public appearance about 5-6 weeks after giving birth. After George she attended a race in Angelsey and with Charlotte it was the Trooping of the Color. Likely her first public appearance will be Harry and Meghan's wedding. After that I'd expect to see her at the June activities: Garter Ceremony, Trooping the Color but perhaps not Ascot. Christening might take place when the baby is about 3-4 months old.  :)

Heaven knows what name he's got. Wish they'd just get it over and done with and just announce it. I think Alexander is a good strong name and so is Philip. Don't know that they'd choose Alexander though because it's one of George's middle names. I like David (it's my son's name) but there's the Duke of Windsor thing around that of course.

Thanks for the heads up about Meghan not being around for the next 3 weeks, wonder if her mother will fly over to help her with the wedding and to spend some time with her as mother and daughter's do.

I also wish William and Catherine would announce the name now, not later.....it wears on our nerves here....LOL.

I think Doria will spend at least a couple of weeks in Britain just to see how everything is going, if Meghan needs any help with shopping or just taking a look around. She gets on really well with Harry by all accounts as well. I'd like to see Tom, her father, in England  too for a little while but I'm not so sure that he will be comfortable in London. And if the media know either of them are around that would be the end of any freedom I think as they will be followed around.

Both George and Charlotte's names were released in 48 hours. QEII had expressed that she'd hope George  would arrive soon as she was headed for Balmoral in August. Soon after QEII met with the couple the baby's name was released. I wouldn't be surprised that the one or two of the grandparents and great-grandmother have not been able to meet the baby yet.  :) QEII and Charles' schedules have to be considered.

Most parents have a selection of both boys and girls names sorted out during the months of pregnancy. That's one of the nicer tasks undertaken during that time.

Charles doesn't really seem to be a baby or toddler-type person. Some granddads dote on toddlers, others don't, and Charles seems to be among the latter. He didn't turn up to either Charles or Charlotte's first birthday parties (he was inspecting a red squirrel sanctuary for George's birthday celebrations) so I don't know why people expect him to be on the steps of the Cambridges' home, panting with anticipation at the sight of his third grandchild.

All the same, it's not good optics. It adds to the impression that William blows hot and cold with his father and is far more comfortable with Kate's family. However, that aspect doesn't seem to bother Charles, so things will remain as they are, I guess.

I'm sure they have names they thought of, but they maybe changed their minds when they actually have  the baby  and still be discussing it.. Or want to run the name by the queen.
Possibly they didn't know the gender and now that it is a boy, since there is less freedom for a male royal name, they are tryng to find something that doesn't sound too Victorian or Medieval...

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

It sounds that way. They could not think out of the box.

Interesting though that Charles Spencer has named one of his sons Louis and one of his daughters Charlotte Diana.

I don't think Michael would have minded. Just my thoughts.

I was relieved the child was not named Arthur as a first name.
They can have picked Nicholas as a 2nd name, no?

If William and Kate were given a list of 'acceptable' names then Prince Charles must be rather surprised at all the Spencer links on the list, considering his relationship with that family.

PR George Alexander Louis.  George McCorqudale, Alexander Fellowes, William's cousins, Diana's nephews.

Prss Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Earl Spencer's daughter's name is Charlotte Diana.

PR Louis Arthur Charles.  Louis Spencer Viscount Althorp is Earl Spencer's eldest son. Charles Earl Spencer is William's maternal uncle.

Subtle but clever, I think.

Yes they are. Royal as well as Spencer names. That's why the Windsor side has no leverage to complain if they suspect that in fact William is honouring his maternal heritage as well.

I just think that it was quite glaring when William gave his elder son the three names borne by his three eldest male cousins on his mother's side. However, what could the Windsors say? They are, as you say, also Royal names, so there could be no complaints from his father and HM.

Imagine so.  I wonder if they haven't got  name sorted out because they didn't know the gender. or perhaps they want the family to see the baby before they announce the name.
I agree with @Curryong that having a list of names is one of the happier parts of waiting for the baby, but sometimes after the baby is born the original list of names might not "feel right."

Now I do agree with @Mike that the couple has a list of "approved" names for those born closer to the line of succession, so I'm not surprised at the choices for the newest Cambridge.

I've only read from royal reporters mentioning his first name to honor Admiral of the Fleet Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten.  Also, this matches Prince William's comment yesterday of 'giving a strong name' tied to royal reporters their inside KP sources.  Who in the Spencer family has had a stronger CV than the Louis Mountbatten?

Although his third name Charles, as a royal watcher seems to be for his grandfather, and his second as the legend of King Arthur.

I don't t hink it a coincidence that two of William's children have the names of two of the children of his Uncle Charles.  I think Will would think the Spencers are "strong" because of his mother.  Mountbatten was also controversial and there were some scandals (his wife's affairs, etc).

William did not even meet Mountbatten for obvious reasons.

Mountbatten famously liked little boys... interesting years later charles become close to jimmy saville. william and harry invited charles spencer to talk about diana in their documantary, a fair bet say they liked his speech and the names of his children

Obviously William has met his uncle and cousins. He and Harry are said visit Althorp to visit their mother's grave. William has never ever visited the grave of Mountbatten like Charles and Camilla did few years ago. Nor given any speech about him

Telegraph's apparent response to the DM's article suggesting a riff between Charles and William.

What's in a name? Louis Arthur Charles is a nod to Prince of Wales and Prince Philip's murdered mentor (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/27/name-louis-arthur-charles-nod-prince-wales-murdered-best-friend/)

Quotell hail Louis Arthur Charles. After keeping the world on tenterhooks for almost five days, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced the name of their newest arrival.

And what a lovely name it is. It is also the perfect riposte to those who have, rather unkindly, suggested in recent days that there is some sort of animosity between the Duke and Prince Charles.

The grandfather-of-three has been prevented from rushing to his eldest son?s side to coo over the baby by royal duty, in Scotland, something that is soon to be remedied.

It is hard to image a more beautiful tribute to your father than naming your son after him, not just once, but twice.

Also as pointed out earlier, there are nods to the Spencers as well.  :)

'Royal reporters' never mentioned that the names William and Kate gave to their first son echoed the exact names of William's Spencer cousins, either. George and Alexander and Louis. Rather a strange coincidence if William meant nothing by it, IMO. I've already posted links to the other Spencer names that have cropped up. As I said before, very subtle.

Popular with whom? They are certainly names that pop up with regularity in the BRF and have been used in the Spencer family. However, I cast an eye on lists of most popular boys/girls names in the UK each year, and I have to say I don't recall Louis or Arthur looming large in the list in the last decade. Louis had a slight vogue in the later 1990s among the upper classes, and that was it.

Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer resides at Althorp. Does Althorp have a chapel? If Althorp does have a chapel, could the christening of Prince Louis take place there?
Title: Re: Louis General Chat
Post by: Curryong on April 29, 2018, 08:22:03 PM
Yes Althorp does have a Chapel. However, Prince Louis is a Windsor not a Spencer and therefore there is absolutely no reason for this baby to be christened anywhere on the Althorp estate.

IMO Louis will probably be christened in the summer down at Sandringham, as Charlotte was.

No they haven't. However, christenings (in the BRF anyway) occur in babyhood. Birthday parties when the child is old enough to see who among its relations is present or not, is a somewhat different thing. The Queen missed several of her children's birthdays, and not always because of public duties either. However, she is now old and not expected really to turn up to birthday parties for her great-grandchildren.

It would be sad if George, Charlotte and Louis get to adulthood and when they think of their grandparents they remember lots of occasions when Carole (and perhaps Michael) took them to fun  excursions, played with them, turned up to celebrations, and when thinking of grandpa Charles think to themselves 'Well, he was always very busy, you know...Too busy for birthday parties, or taking us to petting zoos or on the beach. However, he was at our christening. Of course I can't remember that...'

Just what we were waiting for! He looks like he is a big child.  I've seen that look in one of the other children, but I can't remember which one.  Happy Birthday, Louis!

All babies look cute at this stage, I am envious of Louis eyebrows, My God. That is Kate!!!

As they grow, one can start distinguishing some DNA traits, the facial looks rather than real DNA report of percentages of Windsor or Middleton overall internal/external physical traits.  It is never 50/50...

The only infallible DNA trait that is 100% from the mother is the mitochondrial DNA (and diseases linked to it) can only be transmitted from the mother and NOT the father.  I think the Middleton's are standard healthy.

Introduction to music at an early age is very beneficial.

When I grew up (ages ago!) we were exposed to music and art a great deal. We had music instruction from a visiting music teacher every week, and we had singing and music instruction from our regular teachers daily.  Same with art. In fact, all classrooms had a piano.  When money is short the arts are the first things to go, now. But I've noticed that in private schools the arts still have an important role.

@Princess Cassandra - (Going a bit off topic) Decades ago the kindergarten teachers in California were required to play either the piano or autoharp. Now it is rare to find a classroom with a keyboard of any sort. Unfortunately the public school curriculum schedule doesn't typically allow for music on a daily in Pre-K or K.
The school district that my children attended does have a music teacher that works with the second-fifth grades: starting with the recorder and then moving to the ukulele. He does offer instruction in woodwinds and percussion as well. Another staff member works with string instruments. Our middle and high schools offer instrumental and choral music. Both of my children started with the clarinet in middle school and my son has continued it in high school: marching/concert/jazz band  and drumline. His final marching band competition season comes to an end this Saturday as we've advanced to the finals in our division for our field show routine.

St. Thomas Battersea offers multiple opportunities for its students to be involved in music from a very early age.

This interesting post!  I notice that she is well dressed, even with no engagement. Of course, she never knows when she will be seen, so I imagine this is just part of her life.  I also notice she seems to be enjoying spending time with her youngest - and I can relate. When the older children are off to school there is nothing like one on one time with a child, and it is a time you treasure and becomes a wonderful memory. Lastly, I give her credit for wearing that enormous engagement ring on a regular basis.

Happy birthday Prince Louis  :flower3:

Growing up so much riding a bike, and now off to nursery school.

He still very much looks like Mike Middleton but not the same mini me his brother is. A bit of Windsor peeking through.

:bday7: :happyuk: AWWW look at that big boy on his bicycle! I'm impressed that he is not using training wheels at three. I guess those months up in Norfolk gave them an opportunity to teach him how to ride a two wheeler.  So happy that he's now started nursery school too. I wonder if he's going to the same school that Charlotte attended?

Its a strider bike, no pedals on it. Perfect bike for little kids that age as no training wheels needed. They are built to help kids learn to balance.

I love those balance bikes, and the children love them because the can go very fast on them. Prince Louis seems like a very big boy to me - as though he may be the tallest when grown. I think we can expect all of the Cambridge children to be tall, however. He has Kate's huge smile.

Charles was only a little older at his mother?s Coronation. However, apparently he became very bored, began playing with his Aunt Margaret?s Order of Service and after a short time had to be taken out by his nanny. Ceremonies of that length aren?t places for small children.

I also understand that Charles was really present at the coronation for only about ten minutes and even then it was far too long for him.
I believe that we'll see the older great-grandchildren at the funeral on Monday and possibly at the Coronation. Now by the Coronation, we might see Louis for part of the ceremony but probably not the others except for a balcony appearance.

Some boys do, if their parents go the traditional route shorts are certainly worn in primary school at that age. However few parents in Britain would be insisting on shorts for their very young sons out of school on a freezing day, especially in Norfolk.

Louis?s legs (and feet) would have been cold, no ifs about it. Look at how bundled up the people in the Sandringham crowd were. However royal and aristo children are dressed as part of their class not to withstand cold on all occasions. Shorts- upperclass, long pants-middle and God forbid, working class.

Royal expert says Prince Louis wore shorts to church because trousers are 'middle class' as people say he 'must be freezing' - MyLondon (https://www.mylondon.news/news/uk-world-news/royal-expert-explains-prince-louis-25839998)

All British people recognise that winter means being cold and just complain about it (and often stay indoors.) Diana dressed William and Harry in more sensible long pants for most of the time, but there were still photos of them in winter coats with bare knees when they were very young, just as their father, uncles and grandfathers would have been.

It's not below zero, it's been between 8 to 20 degrees Centigrade in Sandringham, Norfolk.

Older people wrap up, they aren't that active as children. Louis and Charlotte are wearing coats, thick socks and tights, George isn't wearing any overcoat (his dad isn't too).

Where I live its that type of weather, all year round (city's elevation is 2,640 Meters) Right now 10 degrees, bike city, many out in normal track pants, track jacket tied to their waist, I do, others in bike shorts tights and a thin knitwear top, there are many American companies here that go to eat at the usual restaurants during the evening and they are dressed as the most outrageous for the weather, flip flops, shorts a jean jacket, nothing wrong they are ''used'' to it. There's no need to go full on snowy winter wear, although each to its own, there are people who can't stand the chill and are dressed what I consider for a minus 0 degrees C.

I believe that the various family members probably "warmed up" during their walk from the estate to the church, though I expect some of the younger ones may have been skipping, hopping, jumping and running on their way over and out of sight  of the public and the cameras.  Let them burn off a little energy before sitting through the Christmas Service.
Those men and boys who opted to skip overcoats were likely in wool suits too and I expect that there was some warm, thin layers under the Christmas suits, dresses and coats for all.

When I arrived  5 years ago, I wasn't used to the all year cold weather, it's always between 3 to 20 degrees daily and all year round. I have half a mid size closet full of daily to beautiful coats and jackets that 'to date' I don't wear any more (it took me roughly 2 years to get used to it, after I purchased a expensive bike, very important to ride ride and ride, it's not a 'beach' bike with a basket that some people here use to go 3 blocks  :happy15:), I got used to the weather and keeping body temps active. I'll be moving before June 2023, I'm giving away more than half of those jackets and coats, even if transfer is fully company paid. I've been practicing cleaning the closet every 3 months, its good for the soul and by giving, I receive blessings too. Extra note.

I'm sad about my collection of boots...for real, not wearing them either since 3 years ago, trainers, sneakers with short socks is fine now, before boots for everything and oh my collection of scarves, that comes with me, I'm weak weather at the neck, yep, the neck gets cold, next day the sniffles, my best friend here no scarves, no sniffles, each person is 'different, she wears sunglasses, the UV at this hight even if its say 8 degrees, makes her cry.

TLLK hence the picture, Louis is wearing a long sleeve buttoned shirt, a knitwear jumper, and a thick wool coat and what looks like a thick cord shorts if not thick wool shorts (but I think its cord) and thick socks.  As I said, each to its own.  He seemed to be very happy.  People who are feeling cold and badly dressed for the weather that 'may affect' them aren't happy eyes/smile.

I live in New England and have always been a cold weather person. We used to wear cotton dresses to school and I wore wool shorts all winter when not in school. I do suffer with the heat of summer and am grateful we have central air conditioning.
