Not a good public relations story for HM, combined with her mothers extravagant overdraft, seems they exemplify the publics view of one rule for the upper crust and one for the rest of us. So far, at least, whos come out on top, and sit yourselves down cause its not every I give him praise but Charles and the running of the Duchy of Cornwall has stood out in stark contrast, to not only his mothers duchy's poor financial performance but its (at least as far as we know) better investment vehicles.

Never thought id say this but maybe we need Charles on the throne to make the Duchy of Lancaster, ship shape as well.
"No other member of the Royal Family mattered that year, or I think for the next 17 years, it was just her." Arthur Edwards, The Sun Photographer, talking about Diana's impact.

^^^I do believe that when his reign begins that Charles will likely continue with some members of the Cornwall management team to help with Lancaster. William has  already been learning about the workings of the Cornwall duchy for some years now, so the preparations have begun on that end.

The queen has never really been a hands-on manager. Apart from horses, she is not particularly knowledgeable in that respect. I think it is a combination of poor advice and detachment. That is the struggle I mentioned in another thread. Do you become a figurehead (Queen) or an autocratic manager (Charles). They will criticize you for being too interfering if you are Charles but you will also get bad PR stories like this one if you are like the queen.
