I agree that there should be a memorial to police killed in the line of duty (though I think that any such Memorial should be erected in the capital, where many more millions could visit it.) However, I think the Government could well double its contribution or indeed triple it without feeling the pinch. It's all taxpayers' money anyway, but relying on 'private donations' only, for something like this, is shameful IMO.
