Queen Letizia is a great role model for all women! Her commitment to empowering women and preventing discrimination against them especially from disabilities is wonderful. It is women like her who give us all courage and good self-esteem. As a woman, I am particularly proud of the great accomplishments we've made throughout history to promote equality and strength in the world that was and is still dominated by men who see us as inferior to them.

QuoteOn Wednesday 1 March, Queen Letizia of Spain closed the International Congress "Women and Disability: We Crossed Borders" in Ávila, Spain.

She was accompanied by the President of the Junta de Castilla y Leon, Juan Vicente Herrera; Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, Dolors Montserrat; delegate of the Government in the Community of Castile and Leon, María José Salgueiro; and the mayor of Avila, José Luis Rivas.

The dates for the International Congress: "Women and Disability: We Crossed Borders" were 28 February and 1 March. Those in attendance included experts on gender equality "to discuss lines of action to end inequality and promote the empowerment of women, as well as to contribute to eradicating discrimination and violence against women with disabilities," according to Casa Real.
