Before her marriage to Prince Leopold in 1816, Parliament voted a single payment of 60,000 pounds to Princess Charlotte of Wales for furniture, silver, linen, and china.
In addition Charlotte was to have 10,000 pounds a year pin money to cover the cost of her clothes and the payment of her ladies and her personal maids.

^ Yes it was an extravagant amount of money to be given to live on in those days. However the country loved Princess Charlotte and were glad that she was settled in a love match.

She and Leopold looked over their household bills together. A friend came to Claremont House to see them and found them engrossed in piles of papers. Charlotte shouted "Come in, come in! 'Tis only Mr and Mrs Coburg settling their accounts!"

^Yes, and in his widowhood he supported his widowed sister Victoire and her young daughter Victoria. If it hadn't been for Leopold Victoire would have really struggled for money as her husband hadn't left anything much at all and uncle George, King George IV wasn't really inclined to help.

Realy a bit much that he was left in possession of all that money.  The least he could do with it was to help his sister./

For her and Prince Leopold's residence at Claremont, Princess Charlotte settled for six footmen, not eight as her father suggested. Their state livery was to be simple green. Mrs. Campbell was to be lady-in-waiting.
